What You Will Be Doing:

As a CAD Designer on our Engineering team, you will work directly with our Engineers to develop and create 3D models and technical drawings for our products. This Engineer will heavily influence designs and guide the team to standardized approaches in modeling, drafting, and assembling structures. The Mechanical Designer role reports directly to the Manager of Mechanical Engineering.

You Will:

  • Design high-quality 3D models using CAD software, such as NX or SolidWorks
  • Create detailed technical drawings and specifications for production
  • Collaborate with engineers to ensure design and production feasibility
  • Maintain and organize upper-level assemblies for our next generation fusion machine, Polaris
  • Conduct design reviews and provide feedback to optimize design and production

Required Skills:

  • Expert proficiency in CAD software, such as NX, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD, with a demonstrated ability to create complex models and drawings
  • Significant experience with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) software systems, and proven experience managing high level BOMs (bill of materials) through various phases of the development cycle
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with a track record of producing high quality work
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with product design and development, particularly in the energy, aerospace, or manufacturing industries
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials, with a focus on optimizing for efficiency and cost-effectiveness
  • Advanced familiarity with GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing) standards, with a demonstrated ability to apply these standards to complex designs
  • Understanding of Mechanical and Structural fundamentals, with a proven ability to use hand-calcs and tolerance stack-ups to validate designs

 

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or 5+ years of industry experience in CAD software and assembly management

 

Per Washington Equal Pay and Opportunity Act the range for this position is $80k-$140k. Actual salary is based on education, experience, and other qualifying skill sets.
