What You Will Be Doing: 

We are looking for a Materials Test Engineer who will test materials for our commercial fusion generators. In this interdisciplinary role, you will interact with people throughout the company to support metals, composites, and dielectrics testing. You will report to the Director of Radiation Safety and Nuclear Science at our Everett, WA office.

You Will: 

  • Perform Material Testing: Conduct a variety of materials testing, including nuclear, mechanical, thermal, chemical, and electrical tests, using specialized equipment and instruments
  • Collect and Analyze Complex Datasets: Help our engineers understand how materials results affect our fusion generator performance
  • Communicate Results: Report Writing: Prepare detailed reports and presentations summarizing experimental procedures, results, and findings for all partners
  • Outsourcing Coordination: Liaise with external laboratories for outsourcing specific tests, ensuring accurate documentation, adherence to timelines, and quality standards

Required Skills: 

  • Materials Science Knowledge: understanding of materials science principles, including material properties, structure, and performance relationships
  • Laboratory Techniques: Familiarity with different laboratory techniques, such as sample preparation, testing, and analysis for microscopy, mechanical, and physical property measurements
  • Analyze data, identify patterns, and draw meaningful conclusions from experimental results
  • Careful approach to sample preparation, data recording, and adherence to experimental protocols
  • Convey results and collaborate with team members and external partners
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Capacity to troubleshoot experimental issues and propose solutions
  • Organize tasks, deadlines, and manage projects simultaneously
  • Safety Consciousness: Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and practices.
  • Proficiency in using software for data analysis and report generation.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively and contribute to a positive team environment

The pay range for this position is $89k-150k. This pay range may be inclusive of several career levels and will be narrowed based on several factors, including the candidate's experience and qualifications.
