About the role
We seek a highly experienced Manager, Mechanical Engineering to optimize our designs and project performance and support our customer delivery and commercial project teams. You will manage and collaborate with mechanical engineers, drafters, project managers and outside vendors and consultants as well as the commercial team. As we rapidly grow and deliver on more contracts worldwide, you will help document and build scalable processes, technology, and products.

What you will do

  • Manage the productization of our design concepts and prototypes into viable cost competitive designs for larger scale production.
  • Lead design improvements and validation of mechanical designs for the gravity product line, manage the mechanical engineering team to achieve design release milestones and cost targets.
  • Identify the technical deliverables, based on the scope agreed with customer and Project Manager for mechanical scope and use these as a basis to assist in the provision of the project estimates and project execution plan.
  • Responsible for providing technical support to the project manager for mechanical scope to ensure that the project will deliver the required benefits at cost and schedule targets.
  • Provide technical support to the cost controller to allow the generation of estimates at project commencement and for any potential scope change.
  • Ensure that the technical team and any 3rd party technical contractors adhere to the overall project quality plan. Provide technical direction to supply chain for the negotiation of the purchase of any goods and services required for the delivery of the project.
  • Develop necessary tools and processes to drive continuous improvement in Energy Vault’s customer proposals and offerings.
  • What a qualified candidate should possess

  • 8+ years of engineering experience with industrial products. HVAC exposure a plus.
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks and/or other solid modelling CAD systems as well as FEA experience.
  • BS in mechanical engineering; MS a nice to have.
  • Experience with machine design, industrial applications of systems designed for power generation, distribution, and storage.
  • Exposure to engineering and construction, ideally for renewable energy projects.
  • Working knowledge of hydrogen storage applications highly desired.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, approximately up to 20%.
  • Comfortable in fast-paced, rapid growth environments.
