Java Software Engineer

Smappee is seeking a skilled and motivated Java Software Engineer to join our R&D department. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software solutions. Due to the ever-changing environment characterized by the introduction of new products, updated product versions, and frequent fluctuations in data, there is a significant emphasis on the creation of innovative features. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement these new features, enhance existing functionalities, and ensure the stability and performance of our software applications.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop scalable and high-quality software solutions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement new features
• Build and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code
• Participate in refinement meetings and code reviews to ensure quality and adherence to best practices
• Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the Smappee products and its functionalities
• Collaborate closely with the complete R&D department (product owners, app- and frontend developers, firmware engineers, software testers, etc.) to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications
• Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field
• At least five years of background as a backend software engineer
• Proficiency in Java and related frameworks (e.g., Spring, Hibernate)
• Experience with communication protocols such as Kafka and MQTT
• Knowledge of MySQL database systems
• Prior experience in Agile software development methodologies
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and continuous integration/delivery practices
• Experience with distributed systems and/or working in an AWS environment is a plus
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
