The International Tax Director will be a member of our global tax team and will report directly to the Vice President, Global Head of Tax. This highly visible role will be the lead tax operational support for our business in the EMEA and APAC regions with a current focus on Germany, UK, Australia, India, and the Philippines. We are looking for a motivated international tax professional with knowledge of a variety of tax types with a strong sense of ownership. You will ensure compliance with all local tax laws and regulations while implementing tax planning and strategies for our rapidly growing business.

As the International Tax Director for Fluence, you will:

Collaborate with cross-functional departments and provide tax advise with respect to business expansion, contract negotiation, M&A, etc.

Facilitate and manage local tax filings and tax payments prepared by outside tax advisors in multiple jurisdictions.

Assist local finance teams and coordinate with outside tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate income tax provision in accordance with local and US GAAP (ASC 740).

Provide support to team members on indirect taxes including VAT, GST and consumption taxes.

Monitor, review, document, and improve the withholding tax compliance process.

Monitor potential permanent establishment risks in the regions.

Identify opportunities for process improvement and potential areas of risk.

Maintain processes and procedures to ensure compliance with the company’s global transfer pricing policies and local documentation requirements.

Coordinate and manage local tax audits.

Maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process.

Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments.

What are we looking for?

Minimum of 15 years of experience in international tax planning/compliance (industry and public accounting experience preferred).

Business or equivalent University degree with a concentration in finance/accounting.

Knowledge and experience with income tax provision calculations/reporting for a public company.

Strong attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills.

Ability to thrive in a performance-focused and results-oriented environment.

Strong project management and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple relationships with outside advisors.

Excellent communication skills.

CPA or equivalent or JD preferred.

Knowledge of US GAAP including ASC 740.

Understanding of transfer pricing principles.
