Key Responsibilities and Outcomes

  • I&C design and optimisation for modular carbon capture units.
  • Leading I&C activities on Detailed Design and Fabrication projects
  • Developing I&C deliverables: instrument schedule, IO schedule, instrument datasheets, analyser specifications, cable schedule, instrument MTOs and others as required.
  • Participate in multi-discipline project technical reviews including Scope of Work, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&lDs), and 3D Model.
  • Assist and interface with other disciplines and stakeholders to execute project deliverables.
  • Review I&C deliverables from engineering contractors and coordinate with contractor to resolve technical queries.
  • Assist the Principal I&C Engineer in developing corporate procedures, standards, specifications, and the required design tools for the discipline.
  • Support testing, installation, and commissioning of carbon capture plants

Requirements

To be successful in this role you should have a combination of the below knowledge, skills, and experience:

  • Degree qualified for the related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer, or working towards Chartership
  • Experience of Instrument and Control Engineering on heavy industry projects (Power, Oil & Gas, Chemical) from concept to start-up.
  • Proven ability for equipment specification and selection and in ensuring compliance from the suppliers
  • Competent in the application, specification and requisitioning of DCS, PLC, and SIS systems, with experience of the system full lifecycle.
  • Competent in Instrumentation and Control requirements for Mechanical packages.
  • Competent in Specification, technical bid analysis and requisitioning of Field Instrumentation and Analysers.
  • Knowledgeable in the various types of flowmeters and level measurement devices and their application.
  • Understands the concepts of control valve sizing and relief devices.
  • Competent in the use of discipline related software packages. The use of AutoCAD LT for implementation of I&C drawings would be desirable.
  • Knowledge and understanding of UK, EU and international design codes, standards and regulations.
  • High technical fluency with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
  • Ability to work effectively in a small, developing, and entrepreneurial organisation; high level of flexibility and adaptability required.
  • Strong relationship building skills, especially across a dispersed team.
