Role and Responsibilities:

  • Identify and implement effective policies and practices
  • Manage all routine operations of the Human Resources department
  • Lead and administer important functions including, but not limited to, onboarding, payroll, benefits, performance management, engagement surveys and employee relations
  • Talent Strategy, Recruitment and Onboarding
    • Partner with leadership team to understand, organize and execute the organization’s talent strategy as it related to current and future talent needs, recruitment, retention and succession planning
    • Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent
    • Partner and provide support to the Talent Acquisition Manager to ensure effective and successful recruitment procedures are implemented
    • Draft, review and revise position descriptions as required
    • Interview applicants and provide recommendations on decision to hire; and
    • Provide direction and oversight of the onboarding process, ensuring compliance and supporting Operations Specialist to achieve effective and efficient procedures.
  • Payroll, Tax and Benefits Administration
    • Administer semi-monthly and bi-weekly payroll cycles, including timecard review, as well as off-cycle payrolls when necessary
    • Support Operations Specialist with expense reimbursement and tax filing activities as needed
    • Manage administration of health insurance and 401k using relevant system, including reviewing enrollment details, addressing inquiries, correcting errors, and ensuring accurate record keeping
    • Manage open enrollment process, including making sound recommendations on necessary changes to benefit offerings; and
    • Assist with billing reconciliation as required
  • Performance Management, Recognition and Rewards
    • Manage annual performance review process, including goal setting, mid-year reviews, end of year reviews and promotion nomination processes
    • Partner with and support leadership to review OKRs, prepare for performance meetings and address low performance
    • Partner with CEO to understand, recommend and implement appropriate merit and bonus approach year over year
    • Identify and implement improvements to procedures where necessary
    • Identify and implement recognition and rewards programs
  • Training and Development
    • Manage and maintain training rosters and records to ensure employee attendance where required and accurate record-keeping
    • Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees
  • Safety, Well-Being, and Culture
    • Oversee OHS policies and procedures, providing direction and support to the Office Administrator to ensure compliance and accurate record-keeping
    • Manage engagement survey process, including summarizing employee feedback and partnering with leadership to identify necessary actions to drive improvements
    • Identify and implement employee engagement initiatives that amplify company culture and instill the company values
    • Assist with company event planning and coordination as necessary, ensuring alignment with budget and timelines
  • Miscellaneous Human Resources Responsibilities
    • Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations
    • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance
    • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
    • Review and advise on contractor and vendor policies and procedures
    • Maintain employment and confidential files, ensuring organization, compliance, and confidentiality
    • Identify long-term approach to support international employees from HR and compliance standpoint
    • Responsible to oversee and action all immigration-related matters

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
  • Proficient with Google Drive, Gmail, Microsoft Office Suite and related software
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems

Desired Qualifications:

  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP are highly desired
  • Prior experience supporting HR functions for a start up 

Travel:

  • Limited travel anticipated, some travel may be required to attend or support company-related functions

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone and other office productivity machinery, may need to reach, stoop, kneel to access items
  • Must be able to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time
  • Frequently communicates with other employees and third parties, must be able to speak clearly and exchange accurate information
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required
