Responsible for leading the group’s financial planning, performance reporting and analysis, acting as a true finance partner to the business, with overall responsibility for project accounting and project revenue recognition.

Key Responsibilities and Outcomes

  • Lead the group’s rolling 12-24 month forecast and annual budgeting processes– developing appropriate assumptions and drivers – liaising with, and supporting, division and function heads and other key stakeholders across the business.
  • Maintain a deep up-to-date knowledge of the business opportunity pipeline and existing project portfolio, assessing the timings and probabilities, and working directly alongside the Customer Growth and Customer Delivery teams to produce accurate and reliable revenue, cost and profitability projections for inclusion in the budgets/forecasts.
  • Ownership of a first-class performance reporting framework capable of effectively tracking and goalkeeping the group’s objectives and operating plans – develop, implement, and monitor KPI and metric dashboards to help maximise operational performance.
  • Be a true partner to the business - coach stakeholders to understand and take ownership of the performance of their functions.
  • Liaise with the financial accounting team to analyse actual performance, providing analysis and insight versus plan and prior year and highlighting opportunities for efficiencies.
  • Ownership of global revenue and project accounting, establishing a strong interface with the Project Management Office (and Project Managers and Innovation team where necessary) to carefully track, analyse and report on project performance, challenging and stress-testing project forecasts, revenue recognition and project profitability.
  • Analyse individual project performance against budget and pricing models.
  • Establish appropriate routines and workflows to deliver timely and accurate inputs into monthly performance reporting and induct and influence participation from across the business.
  • Prepare multicurrency forecasts for use in determining foreign currency and exchange requirements and developing hedging and option strategies.
  • Support the Corporate Development team with all medium and long-term business planning exercises.
  • Lead the group’s environmental, social and governance (“ESG”) tracking and reporting – liaising closely with the ESG Office and Corporate Development team.
  • Support the Director of Finance and CFO with all ad-hoc financial planning, analysis and what-if scenario activities.
  • Drive the digital transformation of our FP&A activities - specify, select and implement business planning / forecasting and performance reporting platforms integrated with the business’ ERP software.
  • Manage compliance with investor-specific financial reporting requirements.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess outstanding analytical skills, have a proven track record delivering innovative and insightful performance reporting, and possess a robust technical accounting knowledge. To be successful in this role you should have a combination of the below knowledge, skills, and experience:

  • Experience in a business planning and performance reporting role within a similar fast-growing, multicurrency, industrial project-oriented enterprise. Experience within oil & gas, steel, cement and/or chemicals industry segments
  • Exceptional modelling expertise (Microsoft Excel advanced skills are required).
  • Expertise in digital business planning and forecasting platforms integrated with ERP systems – ideally having been involved in at least one selection and implementation project.
  • A deep understanding of and experiencing developing financial and business metrics and KPIs.
  • Excellent understanding of long-term project accounting and revenue recognition concepts and standards.
  • Track record in partnering with stakeholders across the business achieving a reputation for providing service and support excellence.
  • Proven ability to provide insightful and clear analysis and commentary – making technical financial outcomes accessible to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Proven track record in leading the development of highly effective planning and performance reporting frameworks and the associated workflows and processes.
