General Manager R&D (all genders)

Your mission:

As General Manager R&D, you will take full responsibility for our Romanian development hub and play a key role in shaping its future growth. You will ensure efficient site operations, foster a high-performing engineering culture, and act as the bridge between our local teams and headquarters. This is a dedicated leadership position with significant impact on the success and scalability of our global R&D organization.

Your Tasks

In this role, you will oversee all operational, financial, and organizational aspects of our Romanian entity while driving collaboration, transparency, and sustainable growth.

• Take full operational, organizational, financial, and legal responsibility for our Romanian subsidiary
• Represent the company towards local authorities, banks, and external partners and ensure compliance with labor, tax, and corporate regulations
• Own and manage the site budget, including forecasting, cost control, payroll oversight, and close alignment with HQ Finance
• Lead, coach, and develop our local R&D organization, fostering engagement, accountability, and long-term talent retention
• Partner with Talent Acquisition and HQ stakeholders to attract, hire, and onboard top engineering talent
• Build scalable team structures and leadership capabilities aligned with business objectives
• Coordinate local R&D activities and ensure alignment with product roadmaps, priorities, resources, and delivery expectations
• Promote transparency by proactively communicating progress, risks, dependencies, and capacity planning
• Cultivate a collaborative, trust-based, and performance-oriented engineering culture
• Strengthen collaboration between Engineering, Product Management, and headquarters while identifying and removing organizational bottlenecks

Your profile:

• Several years of leadership experience within a software development, technology, or R&D environment
• Proven track record of managing teams, budgets, and operational processes
• Experience working within international organizations and collaborating across headquarters and subsidiary structures
• Solid understanding of modern software development environments and agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution and operational excellence
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills
• High level of ownership, sound decision-making abilities, and a pragmatic, solution-oriented mindset
• Empathetic and motivating leadership style combined with the confidence to challenge teams and stakeholders constructively
• Ability to remain calm and focused in dynamic and fast-paced environments
