The Financial Accountant – UK will be responsible for completing the UK’s day to day financial accounting, transactional processing, month-end controls and reviews, and cash and working capital management. 

Key Responsibilities and Outcomes

  • Support the continuous improvement and development of our ERP solution, and integrity of financial reporting, including provision of support to financial teams in the US and India to ensure consistency and continuous improvement of financial reporting systems and processes.
  • Completion of UK reporting processes:
  • Maintain accurate and complete books of account to defined standards and in accordance with the group’s accounting policies, structured to enable optimal performance reporting.
  • Ensure adherence to all financial reporting deadlines across the group.
  • Ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Support with the preparation of the UK’s statutory reporting requirements and audit procedures.
  • Perform UK month-end control processes:
  • Manage capital expenditure and fixed asset accounting.
  • Control intercompany transactions.
  • Process month-end manual adjustments, including review of accruals and prepayments.
  • Prepare detailed analysis of general & administrative expenditure to support forecasting processes.
  • Administration and management of UK working capital (accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventories).
  • Ensure appropriate authorisation for all purchases.
  • Review aging of receivables and assist with recovery of outstanding receivables.
  • Processing sales and purchase invoices.
  • Cash administration and management:
  • Manage UK banking transactions and perform month-end bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare UK cash flow forecasts and plan forward currency and exchange needs.
  • Management of timesheet and expenses system, ensuring timeliness of submissions and scrutiny of time and expenses charged and alignment with policy.
  • Act as key point of contact for any UK employee queries regarding finance processes, particularly around the timesheet and expenses system.
  • Provide support to the Financial Controller - UK and Group FP&A Manager as required.
  • Ad-hoc projects as required.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role you should have a combination of the below knowledge, skills, and experience:

  • Part qualified Financial Accountant with strong financial acumen – ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS
  • Experience working with SAP preferable, but not essential
  • A high level of motivation, with the energy and drive to “make things happen” and grow
  • Monitors own work performance and understands how own performance contributes to departmental and Company objectives
  • Ability to solve problems without seeking guidance and supervision
  • Exhibit high levels of innovation and aptitude to continuously improve processes and deal with ambiguity and identify solutions to resolve this

  • Pride in providing high quality, accurate and timely information, with a close attention to detail and always looking to improve the clarity and value of outputs
  • Demonstrable experience of developing strong working relationships with stakeholders at all levels, through a consistent, confident and open communication style

  • Accomplished verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint presentation skills
  • Knowledge of oil & gas, steel, cement and/or chemicals is highly desirable but not essential
