Join the power movement as an Environmental Health & Safety Technician
The Environmental Health & Safety Technician will support environmental, health and safety initiatives at our Devens, Massachusetts as well as our Somerville, Massachusetts facility. The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Technician will be responsible for regulatory requirements relating to OSHA, RCRA, EPA, and DOT requirements. Works with engineers and technicians daily to ensure our team can achieve its missions while meeting all environmental, health, and safety objectives.

What you'll do:
Health and Safety:Ensure that safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers, fall protection equipment, first aid kits, AEDs, safety showers, and eyewash stations are properly maintained, inspected, and serviced according to regulations and manufacturer recommendationsEnsure that lifting and rigging equipment is being maintained in accordance with regulations and manufacturers recommendationsCalibrate fixed and portable gas detection devices in accordance with regulations and manufacturers recommendationsFacilitate safety inspections and audits (e.g., ladders, walking working surfaces) using checklists or guides to ensure equipment and facilities are maintained in a safe and compliant mannerProvide direct safety oversight by identifying and correcting workplace hazards and unsafe conditions observedAssist with employee exposure assessments (i.e., industrial hygiene monitoring)Assist in the implementation of site-specific safety programsEnsure notification and immediate corrective actions when an unsafe condition is found or reportedAssist with incident investigations
Environmental:Assist with the management of recyclables, universal waste, waste oil, and hazardous wasteMonitor levels of hazardous waste in satellite accumulation areasEnsure all waste is properly labeledEnsure all waste is properly stored, according to its classificationRecord and maintain 90-day hazardous waste drum logs, hazardous waste sign in sheets, VOC solvent usage logs, and related recordsPerform weekly hazardous waste and hazardous material storage area inspectionsAssist in waste shipments with the waste disposal contractorPerform weekly stormwater inspections per the SWPPPPerform tasks related to spill response/preventionAssist with implementing the spill prevention countermeasures and control plan (SPCC)Perform environmental compliance and due diligence auditsWhat we’re looking for:
High school diploma or equivalency certificate2+ years of experience implementing and overseeing aspects related to an environmental, health and safety programPrevious experience in a construction/industrial environmentAbility to work in a high-volume, fast paced environmentRequired experience in performing safety oversight in an industrial environmentRequirement of knowledge of regulatory requirements from agencies like OSHA, EPA, DEC, RCRA, and othersBonus points for:
