Carbon Clean have been awarded a contract for the supply of a carbon capture plant. The Engineering manager will be responsible for the equipment design and delivery to a client based in Sweden and have a technical responsibility for all engineering work through allocation, supervising and directing resources for the preparation of project deliverables and oversight of engineering partners.

The requirement is immediate and can be on a contract basis for initially 6 months but will be extended for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • The engineering manager will be technically responsible for all engineering work by allocating resources, supervising and directing preparation of project deliverables.
  • They will manage and lead a team of multi -discipline engineering (Internal & External) resources to coordinatiion production of engineering deliverable in accordance with the project plan.
  • Review and provide quality assurance of the detailed engineering Phase Deliverables to the Fabrication Phase
  • Formulating resolutions to technically challenging and/or high-profile issues with support from discipline engineering and effective communication with clients, subcontractors and senior management.
  • Monitoring the engineering, progress and addressing shortfalls, develops recovery plans where required and ensures plans are implemented. Provides feedback to Project Managers and Engineering discipline supervisors as and when required of progress.
  • Attending project review meetings and ensure that associated reports are compiled and distributed accordingly.
  • Review the ITB (Invitations To Bid) documents submitted in the proposals stage.
  • Prepare/reviews man-hour estimates and provides input to the project execution plan.
  • Identity a clear scope of work and supervises preparations of the Technical Document Register (TDR)
  • Responsible for planning/scheduling all engineering activities and manpower resource. Quantified the total number of engineering deliverables, man hour allocation and format of delivery and other requirements for execution of the work. Provides necessary regular project controls/reporting input.
  • Approving all engineering deliverables and ensure appropriate personnel in place to undertake competent checking across all disciplines.
  • Provides support to procurement including long lead items enquiry: approved technical requisitions, vendor documentation reviews and Technical Big Evaluations to ensure design conformance.
  • Ensures compatibility and conformance with client specifications and recommends cost effective improvements to equipment selection/specifications within the scope of client specifications and requirements.


Requirements

  • Engineering Degree level qualification, ideally in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer
  • Excellent understanding of the multidisciplinary engineering involved in process plant (e.g gas processing) design, fabrication, and operations.
  • Experienced in the integration of occupational and process safety management into design, fabrication, and operations.
  • Experience in an engineering supervisory/management role, managing both teams of engineers and external contractors.
  • Comfortable leading and managing an experienced team of discipline engineers.
  • Experienced working with budgets, including demonstrable involvement in budget control.
  • Ability to train team members in new skills and competencies.
  • Strong Problem-Solving skills, decision making, whilst being pro-active in achieving positive results.
  • Experience of working in plant operations or interfacing with operations personnel through design in the process industry.
  • Good leadership experience is essential.
