The engineering lead will be responsible for leading and coordinating the technical input to sales support, technical qualification, development and project activities with clients, engineering partners and fabricators in the region.
Key Responsibilities and Outcomes
In this newly created role, you define and oversee work scopes and draw on a team of multi-discipline Engineers (internal & external resource) to deliver high quality engineering insight and support for sales, product line development and project delivery focused on the Canadian market.
To achieve this, you will work closely with colleagues in the global engineering team, other teams within Carbon Clean including Innovation, Project Delivery, Sales, Marketing as well as external partners; clients, engineering and fabrication partners, equipment suppliers, licensors and consultants, to ensure excellence in product line and engineering delivery for our customers.
Key outcomes will include:
- Timely and high quality engineering support for projects
- Support to Sales through input to opportunity and proposal development, as well as providing expert product knowledge in customer engagements.
- Work with external partners to delivery of safe, operable and cost effective plants that are fit for purpose and match requirements of target industries and geographies.
- Formulate resolutions to technically challenging and/or high-profile issues with support from discipline Engineers and effectively communicating with Clients, Subcontractors and Senior Management.
- Enhance the breadth of Carbon Clean’s engineering capabilities, ensuring consistency of approach and best practice across engineering activities
- Lead and input to technical evaluations leading to successful selection and partnering with external engineering and fabrication partners
- Development of and input to engineering and product standards aligned to industry and market requirements
- Feedback and input into product development activities
- Gathering and implementation of lessons learned
- Training and education of the wider organization
- Proactive knowledge management allowing access to critical information as needed
- Continuous process improvement that ensures use of automation tools and standards
Requirements
To be successful in this role you should have a combination of the below knowledge, skills, and experience:
- Engineering Degree level qualification, ideally in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
- APEGA registered engineer
- Excellent understanding of the multi disciplinary engineering involved in process plant (e.g. refining or gas processing) design, fabrication and operations.
- Good understanding of CO2 capture and gas processing technologies
- Excellent understanding of the unique design and operating challenges in presented in the harsh Northern BC and Albertan environment.
- Familiarisation of harsh climate equipment skid and module fabrication solutions.
- Experienced in the integration of occupational and process safety management into design, fabrication and operations.
- Comfortable working remotely and managing inputs from an experienced team of Discipline Engineers
- Strong problem solving skills and decision making, whilst being pro-active in achieving positive results.
- Experience of working in plant operations or interfacing with operations personnel through design in the process industry
