Role Description
We are looking for an electrical engineer who can play a key role in the development of our battery module electronics and control systems. This individual will be part of a rapidly growing team responsible for PCBA design, component selection, functional safety, and design validation testing. Ideally, the electrical engineer should have exposure to a broad range of technical challenges and methods in the context of product development, including high voltage electronics design, EMC compliance, and root cause failure analysis. Cross-team collaboration throughout the product development organization is a critical part of this role, so systems-level thinking and multidisciplinary engineering problem solving are key traits of a successful candidate.

What You'll Do:

  • Design PCBAs and busbars for high voltage DC power flow 
  • Collaborate with software and hardware engineers to develop a battery management system (BMS) capable of coordinating functionality and safety responses throughout the system
  • Develop the battery module contactor and fusing strategies then implement in lab-scale prototypes 
  • Incorporate EMC regulatory requirements into design approaches
  • Develop and support the execution of test plans to validate electronics and control systems in lab and field environments
  • Engage with battery module and system design engineers to build Form’s first generation multi-day storage product
  • Support the new product introduction and manufacturing scale-up activities, including quality inspection requirement, root cause failure analysis, and test equipment development
  • What You'll Bring:

  • BSc or greater in electronics or electrical engineering
  • 2+ years experience in product development - experience in energy storage or renewable energy is a plus
  • Background in electronics development, fabrication, and assembly processes
  • Experience using and debugging industrial controls and serial communication protocols
  • Experience with EMC/EMI sensitive design and analysis
  • Familiarity with embedded system, high voltage electronics, and MOSFET switching circuit designs
  • Good analytical problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must be able to obtain US work authorization
