The Senior Electrical Engineer will engage on active industrial and development projects across mainly Europe and North America to provide technical solutions and deliverables. This contract would have a length of 6 month initially with the potential for extension based on the project.

They will interact with end-users, equipment suppliers, and engineering contractors across the full project cycle, spanning concepts to design, fabrication and operations.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Prepares engineering deliverables: electrical load list, single line diagrams, cable schedule, cable sizing calculations, electrical MTO and others as required.
  • Provides technical support to sales during bidding, projects during execution, fabricator during construction and field during erection and commissioning.
  • Proven ability for equipment specification and selection and in ensuring compliance from the suppliers.
  • Experience in the design of MV and LV Power distribution systems.
  • Competent in the application, specification and requisitioning of Motor Control Centres, Transformers and UPS equipment.
  • Competent in electrical requirements for Mechanical packages.
  • Competent in the specification of lighting, small power, grounding and lightning protection for buildings and process skids.
  • Familiar with power system studies and VFD harmonic studies and understands the related principles and best industry practise.
  • Experience in arc flash protection and risk assessments.
  • Experience in the design of trace heating for industrial piping systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of UK, EU and international design codes, standards and regulations. An understanding of US standards such as NEC, NEMA and UL would be desirable.
  • Leads discipline design reviews for the project and participates in multi-discipline project technical reviews including Scope of Work, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and 3D Model.
  • Reviews electrical deliverables from engineering contractors and coordinates with contractor to resolve technical queries.
  • Holds progress meetings with engineering contractor as required to ensure contractor is delivering to schedule.
  • Adheres to and complies with engineering procedures and standards.
  • Ensures effective communication and interface between all disciplines and stakeholders for design and development.
  • Travels to and visits clients, engineering contractors and suppliers to meet with technical representatives when required.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships both internally and externally. Communicates across the project by developing and maintaining positive, sustainable relationships.
