The Job
As a Senior Data Analytics Contractor, you will serve as a critical bridge between our raw data infrastructure and actionable business intelligence. Your primary focus will be to dive into our Databricks environment to translate complex datasets into clear, strategic insights that support growth and operational efficiency. Leveraging the Medallion Architecture, you will refine data in the Gold layer to ensure it is business-ready, accurate, and optimized for high-level reporting. We need a high-level analytical thinker who can rapidly absorb our business logic, relieve internal resource strain, and deliver sophisticated data products that empower stakeholders to make informed decisions.

What You'll Do

  • At Omnidian we believe in trust and autonomy. How you create an impact is ultimately up to you. Here is an outline of some of the things you’ll be doing:
  • Synthesize complex data from the Silver and Gold layers of the Medallion structure to create high-impact reports and dashboards.
  • Perform deep-dive analysis on specific metrics to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Validate data integrity across the Lakehouse, ensuring that the transition from raw data to analytical outputs is seamless and accurate.
  • Partner with business leaders to define Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and build the underlying logic to track them.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications for the engineering team to ensure the data warehouse evolves with user needs.
  • Optimize SQL queries within Databricks to ensure dashboards and reports remain performant as data volume scales.
  • Who You Are

  • An analytical storyteller who doesn't just provide numbers but explains what they mean for the business.
  • A fast learner capable of mastering specific data landscape and business model with minimal ramp-up time.
  • A proactive communicator who can bridge the gap between technical data structures and executive-level summaries.
  • Rigorous and detail-oriented, with a "trust but verify" mindset regarding data quality and consistency.
  • Experience You’ll Need

  • 5+ years of experience in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, or Insights Engineering.
  • Expert-level SQL skills, specifically for data transformation, window functions, and complex joins within a data warehouse environment.
  • Strong proficiency with Databricks, including experience navigating notebooks and querying Delta Tables.
  • Experience working within a Medallion Architecture, specifically focusing on the consumption of Silver and Gold layers.
  • Advanced Data Visualization experience (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or Databricks SQL Dashboards).
  • Proven track record of delivering insights in a fast-paced, contract-based environment.
  • Experience That’s a Plus

  • Familiarity with Python (PySpark) for data manipulation beyond standard SQL.
  • Background in the solar, utility, or renewable energy industries.
  • Experience with dbt (data build tool) for managing transformations within the warehouse.
  • Knowledge of statistical modeling or predictive analytics to forecast business trends.
