About this role:

The Communications Manager will be responsible for reaching, engaging, and inspiring internal and external audiences about Heliogen’s mission, successes, and organizational momentum. As the lead for both marketing and corporate communications, you must be experienced in defining communications strategy, crafting original messages and content, and disseminating across all communication channels. We seek a creative “quick-thinker who is able to build narratives that link technology innovation, climate and sustainability challenges, and business outcomes. Your communication skills will help to expand awareness of Heliogen’s solutions across the globe, attract new customers and talent, and help accelerate industry’s shift to clean, carbon-free energy.  

In this role, you will:

  • Define communication needs, strategy, and messaging and positioning for customers, press, prospective and current employees, investors, and the public 
  • Write original content such as blogs, press releases, articles, and more to educate, persuade, and inspire action  
  • Work collaboratively with Heliogen’s press agency, marketing agencies, and internal teams to drive PR and communications projects 
  • Work with department heads to create and share important information across the company 
  • Plan and build an active social media strategy and presence for Heliogen
  • Develop the content marketing program, coordinating work from contributors, sharing content, and tracking engagement across all channels
  • Work collaboratively with graphic designers and videographers to create multi-media content 
  • Maintain messages, content and visuals on the company website, working with our web development team and graphic designers
  • Monitor metrics to ensure that our messages and content reach intended audiences and are effective in attracting and informing target audiences and achieving corporate communication goals 

What's essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree communications, journalism, business, or English, or equivalent practical work experience
  • 5+ years in marketing communications, content marketing, public relations, or similar position, with a solid portfolio of short-form and long-form content 
  • Writing and editing experience covering all forms of marketing communications (website copy, collateral, press releases, articles/, blogs, and more)
  • Experienced in defining social media strategy, publishing regularly, and monitoring influence and effect
  • Able to work quickly and collaboratively within the organization and with outside agencies
  • Impeccable written communication skills combined with a love of expressing and refining ideas for impact 

Desirable:

  • Experience with energy, natural resources, climate technologies, or industrial sectors such as mining, cement, steel manufacturing, transportation.
  • Experience in media relations and working closely with PR agencies and journalists
  • Experienced in providing art direction to creative teams building infographics, photography, videos, and animations. 
  • Creative, resourceful and adaptable 
  • Excels in hyper-growth environments

California only full-time salary range between $120,000 - $160,000 + equity + benefits.
