ABOUT THIS POSITION

Location: Hybrid (2-3 days in office) in Arlington, VA

Fluence is seeking an intern to work with the Americas New Customer Solutions team. This role will directly create value for Fluence customers via deployment of new digital technologies into operating sites in the Americas region. These technologies aim to improve key operational metrics in the young and rapidly growing stationary storage industry. This is a significant role in a young, dynamic group inside Fluence with opportunity for high individual contribution and impact.  

As a New Customer Solutions Intern, you will: 
•Work on applications utilizing Fluence’s extensive fleet operating data, covering multiple GWhs and a decade in operation. 
•Collaborate with senior engineers to design, develop, and maintain AI applications and services. 
•Leverage large language models (LLMs) to solve pressing business needs.
•Utilize natural language processing (NLP) to extract information and ensure high data quality
•Design and refine workflows which ensure AI and ML modeling efforts are fed with data suited to purpose and need.
•Assist in cloud infrastructure design and management.
•Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices. 
•Work with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and develop solutions. 
•Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely manner. 
•Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies to enhance development practices. 
•Support the team with testing, deployment, and monitoring of applications.

What does the ideal candidate bring to Fluence?

  • Has a passion for the future of energy storage and a disinterest in the status quo.
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience utilizing Python for AI/ML solutions.
  • Familiarity with large language models, including fine-tuning, hyperparameter optimization, and prompt engineering.
  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services, including the AWS CLI.
  • Knowledge of natural language processing techniques and tools.
  • Experience using version control systems, such as Git.
  • Desire to learn more about AI in the stationary energy storage domain.
  • Strong problem resolution and decision-making skills, creative and resourceful, display sound judgment and demonstrate accountability. 
  • Ability to work in a time-sensitive and agile growth environment.
  • A collaborative spirit in working across teams and functions.
  • Interest in both the fundamentals of technology as well as adoption of technology by society and industry.
