ICON is looking for an open-minded, structured thinker who loves to solve complex problems and appreciates the value of prototyping and iterating applications over time. As an Application Engineer focusing on the 3D-printed wall system data at ICON, you will be responsible for collaborating with Architects, Structural Engineers, and Building Scientists to convert architectural plans to highly efficient and structurally sound path-planning algorithms. This role reports to the Senior Manager of Quality Assurance of BuildOS Software Applications and is based at our Austin, TX campus.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with in-house Architecture and Building Performance team to support the print path development and review process.
  • Partner with Architects, Structural Engineers, and Building Scientists to convert architectural plans to highly efficient and structurally sound path-planning algorithms.
  • Perform unit testing, integration testing, and another testing to thoroughly prove behavior and identify bugs in ICON wall system.
  • Create software to interface with 3rd party CAD and CAM software.
  • Build internal tools to help visualize, instrument and debug the 3D printing process.
  • Work closely with R&D engineers to perfect print quality across ICON’s lineup of devices and materials.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 0-2 years of experience or equivalent experience in related technology/engineering fields.
  • B.S. in an Engineering discipline.
  • Experience working with JSON or scripting languages.
  • Work closely with a wide variety of stakeholders to gather requirements and data for print path development. 
  • An ability to learn and develop skills. 

 

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working with any common programming language such as Typescript, C#, Java, Python.
  • Experience writing unit tests on a unit testing framework.
  • Experience working Typescript.
  • Experience working with Github or other source control systems.

 

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Can be remote but must be willing and able to travel to Austin.
