We are looking for an Aircraft Production Leader who will:

We are looking for an Aircraft Production Leader to join our aircraft build & maintenance team here at Vertical. The role will be to assist the Build Manager in running the aircraft production and maintenance activities, leading a team of Aircraft Technicians. They will be programme facing and act to support and facilitate the Senior Aircraft Technicians in managing the near & medium-term workload of the team. The team, and hence the production leader, may also be assisting in the build and deployment of test rigs, supporting the flight test programme and any other areas of the business requiring technician support.

 

The responsibilities and duties of the Aircraft Production Leader will be as follows:

  • Leadership and line management to the Aircraft Technician team so that our teams can achieve their full potential.
  • Ensuring our people go home safely every day by driving compliance to our health and safety standards as well as assessing and proactively managing risk.
  • Quality standard compliance.
  • Load and Capacity Planning in collaboration with the Build Manager to ensure appropriate capacity is in place to support the Aircraft Program requirements.
  • Lean Leadership to drive day to day improvement activities such as 5s and continuous improvement in the way we operate contributing to improvements in performance

The successful Aircraft Production Leader will have the following Experience & Qualifications:

  • Will be an experienced in production activities with leadership abilities, programme management knowledge and sound personal standard practices.
  • Should have good attention to detail and can operate to challenging deadlines without compromising standards or quality.
  • Should demonstrate a flexible and proactive attitude to carrying out responsibilities and always willing to lend a hand where needed throughout the business and across different teams
  • Would benefit from having an excellent working knowledge of aircraft production and/or maintenance including documentation, manuals and engineering drawings.
  • Given the challenging nature of this opportunity, it will be important that they are able to work well in a growing team and demonstrate initiative to resolve unique technical problems whilst operating in a fast paced and ever changing environment.

Basic Qualifications/Experience

  • Accredited aerospace engineering qualification, aircraft engineering apprenticeship in commercial/military or similar qualification in aircraft systems would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Ideally will have led teams in a manufacturing industry or aircraft production and/or maintenance.
  • Experience in rolling out and ownership of production system.
  • Experience of efficiency improvements.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • There will be a requirement to work a shift pattern during certain programme phases.
