Rond is looking for a VP of Product Design Engineering to lead and grow a team of mechanical, structural, electrical, industrial, and other engineers to deliver on schedule and on budget our roadmap of Rondo Heat Batteries. You will foster an engineering culture, team, and processes to deliver these complex products. You will create robust planning, documentation, and processes to shepherd components and systems from concept to commercialization. Your team is about 20 engineers now and will continue to grow..

What You Will Do (key responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to):

  • Manage the product design team and work cross-functionally to deliver Rondo Heat Battery designs
  • Develop and manage comprehensive plans and schedules for development of projects
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve product design engineering processes, tools, and methodologies
  • Recruit, integrate, and train excellent design engineers
  • Manage design engineering budgets and resources to ensure products are completed on time, within budget (R&D, COGS, and Field Assembly), and to the highest quality standards
  • Participate in the leadership of the overall engineering organization

What You Will Bring:

  • Strong leadership skills and 5+ years of management experience
  • Excellent people and project management skills, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across your team and with peers
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical, structural, high power electrical, or related engineering fields
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and resources effectively

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with subsystems related to our industry: refractory brick, kilns and ovens, large structural components and systems, medium or high voltage systems, microgrids, etc
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, especially ability to work with engineers and engineering problems across multiple disciplines
  • Familiarity with relevant software, best practices and tools such as Solidworks, PDM, lean Six Sigma, GD&T, etc.
