ICON is looking for an experienced, team-oriented leader to serve as the Vice President, Design Build Operations for our rapidly growing construction team. The candidate has deep experience leading high-performing teams in project planning, construction architecture, and engineering, project management, and project execution. This individual is a proven leader, adept at creating strategy, aligning stakeholders, standing up for new functional areas, and is eager to roll up your sleeves to establish a high-performing design-build team at ICON. This role reports to the SVP of Operations and is based in our Austin, TX campus.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and develop leaders overseeing pre-construction, project management, construction architecture and engineering,  subcontractor, and self-performed trades.
  • Establish best practices, processes, and systems to support design-build operations.
  • Lead scoping, budgeting, and construction operations for new residential developments.
  • Oversee status of project performance against originally targeted build times and budgets.
  • Serve as a single point of contact for projects for executive staff, customers, and clients.
  • Lead construction team meetings and/or customer’s design and construction meetings on behalf of ICON.
  • Collaborate and provide feedback to cross-functional teams within ICON, including Manufacturing, Finance, Testing, and Human Resources. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering, architecture, construction management, project management, or finance.
  • 12+ years of experience in design or construction, including superior understanding of construction schedules, build operations, and construction technology.
  • 7+ years of experience with financial analysis and budgeting with large scale construction project management.
  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership position. 

 

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience working with and managing construction, PM, and design talent.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Project Management applications. 
  • Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently and manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to think strategically to analyze the needs of the business and define solutions.
  • Ability to navigate between strategic work and tactical execution.
  • Ability to be available before and after working hours on occasion.
  • Highly adaptable, comfortable with change and ambiguity, and capable of quickly rallying teams and resources.
