Thermal Vacuum Engineer

ICON is looking for a Thermal Vacuum Engineer  to manage all things related to our Thermal Vacuum R&D on ICON’s growing team. As the Thermal Vacuum Engineer at ICON, you will be responsible for ensuring that all of our processes and operations associated with ICON’s vacuum systems in order to advance humanity with our technology. This role will report to the Director of Off-Planet Systems out of ICON’s Austin, TX campus.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operate and maintain high vacuum chambers and pumping equipment.
• Design, fabricate and procure thermal management systems.
• Conduct Tvac DOEs on flight and engineering test items.
• Write test plans and reports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar field.
• 5+ years professional experience in high vacuum systems cryogenic systems.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Broad spectrum of engineering experience integrating thermal management systems with complex opto-mechanical equipment.
• Formal knowledge of thermal effects on opto-mechanical systems.
• Experience in implementation and tuning of related control algorithms.
