ICON is looking for a Manager, Field Operations to lead and orchestrate highly efficient day-to-day operations of our field fleet of a team of +-~75 captains & technicians. This role is responsible for resourcing ICON technology/materials and collaborating with internal champions/project managers to run 24/7 operations/deliver across all projects delivering printed structures across the central/south USA. This role will have direct reports; largely all Senior Print Captains. You will collaborate with a Training Manager, and Workforce Manager and will report to the Sr. Manager of Print Operations. The scheduler will have full responsibility for all administration of the field fleet team. The trainer will have full responsibility for ensuring compliant field execution and best practices log in real-time. You will be responsible for coaching/training/mentorship in addition to tactical management of these teammates to meet/exceed their targets you help them set. This role is based out of Austin TX, but requires 50%+ travel to project sites across the central / south United States to manage tactical execution boots-on-the-ground.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Internal coordination and collaboration:

Project/Construction management

  • Project deployment (pre-project)
  • Project delivery & material / consumable management (during project)
  • Project scope execution and handoffs to Construction Manager / Project Manager (delivering high-quality operations and partnership)
  • Project packout (project-close)

 

ESS (Engineering Support Services)

  • Parts inventory 
  • Troubleshooting basis
  • Maintenance upkeep 
  • Consistently looking to optimize & collaborate with internal ICON departments to drive operational improvements over time

 

Headcount maintenance & upkeep

  • Demand and project planning to ensure our field team is right sized
  • Hiring, terminations, promotions as required to meet demands of business
  • Performance management and documentation as required
  • Deliver reconciled and verified weekly compliant time sheets for full fleet on time to HR partner 

 

Maintaining Print Operations Knowledge base & resources

  • In addition to administrative policies & operational best practices - you will be responsible for upkeep of Print Operations confluence space in real-time
  • Physical equipment management of personnel PPE, quality materials, shirts, etc that trainer maintains 

 

Data & Performance management 

  • Responsible for understanding field performance of all projects against targets & being able to speak to data driven insights. 
  • Identifying, defining, and driving the implementation of new policies, certifications, and training required. 
  • Expense and spend management of specific project line items including all consumables and people equipment required. 
  • Monthly reconciliation and report on teams Coupa expenses.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience in construction, manufacturing, or other industry with dynamic team structures and fast paced implementations/improvements/iteration. 
  • Experience leading and managing teams.
  • Ability to confidently take initiative in fast-paced environments & retain/build intuition. 
  • Ability to problem-solve, make quick decisions, and take ownership of team, policy/administrative performance.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Process driven with an attention to detail coupled with an ability to prioritize high-level thinking and planning.
  • Ability to flex working hours as required to support business needs, often at/upwards of 60 hrs a week.

 

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Familiarity with concrete construction materials or factory production environment and the ability to think and stay ahead for the needs of the operation. 
  • Industrial safety system experience. 
  • Industry relevant certifications; ACI Concrete Field Test Technician Grade 1, etc.
