About the Role
The Test Engineering Technician will work closely with the test and integration engineering team to build, coordinate, and execute critical testing programs that validate the performance, safety, and reliability of the Lightship product line. Lightship and this role are highly collaborative environments! You will be working cross-functionally with multiple engineering organizations to work towards our common goal of building the best all electric camping experience possible.

Onsite/Hybrid Work
Most roles at Lightship require onsite work from our offices Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, though some roles may require all days in office. Speak to the hiring manager to learn more.
Responsibilities
Set up and execute a wide range of electrical and mechanical product tests. Testing includes: safety, performance, and reliability tests with development and pre-production level parts and assembliesLead in-test reporting of progress, failures, and testing risks to the test engineering team both onsite and remoteCollaborate with test and development engineers during post-test root cause analysis to identify failure modes and areas for product improvementFabricate various mechanical and electrical test fixtures using a range of manufacturing processesDomestically travel (up to 30%) to support field testing at a range of test facilities including: automotive test tracks, environmental chambers, remote test sites (and campgrounds!)Maintain all tools and equipment in the lab and continue to acquire and install new equipment to increase lab capabilitiesMaintain test assets (vehicles, bucks, mules and test rigs) and prepare them for testing, evaluation and demonstration. Collaborate with test engineers and program managers during the test planning phase to ensure feasible and realistic alignment with program goalsBe an early core part of the Lightship test and integration team driving safety, process, and cultural improvements every day
Prior Experience
6+ yrs experience working as a technician in the automotive/EV, cleantech, or aerospace industriesExperience creating custom wire harnesses and test fixtures with little oversightExperience instrumenting test articles with sensors such as accelerometers, thermocouples, electrical sensors working off of a documented test planDemonstrated experience working in and maintaining a lab development environmentWorking knowledge of automotive and AC electrical systemsExperience troubleshooting software, CAN messaging and calibration testing of control algorithms a plusExperience generating technical documents for training and test report generation (Powerpoint, word, etc)Experience with data acquisition systems and measurement devicesExperience with soldering and instrumenting circuit boardsYou may also have
