At Octopus Energy Services, we’re building a passionate team to drive the green energy revolution across the UK (and beyond). From heat pump engineers and electricians to solar specialists and smart meter installers, our field teams deliver outrageously good, in-home customer experiences. Behind the scenes, sales, support, fulfilment, logistics, and data experts keep everything running smoothly - fuelling innovation across our supply chain. We move fast, think differently, and care deeply about what we’re building. If you're passionate about making a real difference - bingo, you're in the right place

We are seeking an experienced Supply Planning Lead to join our Supply Chain team. This team member will play a critical role in the management of inventory levels within our distribution network. The Supply Planning Lead will work closely with numerous commercial and operational departments, as well as our external supply partners, to help the organisation balance efficient control of our material volumes whilst also allowing us to maintain optimal customer service levels. This role offers an opportunity to be a key influence on the optimisation and effectiveness of our supply chain and for development within the growing Octopus Energy Services organisation.

What you'll do

  • Own overall inventory levels across our low-carbon technology product ranges, working closely with Materials Planners to review forward inventory positions, variance to plan, and ensure purchasing stays within agreed inventory targets.
  • Own obsolete and excess inventory, planning ahead to minimise build up and leading clear root-cause reviews and actions for end of life parts and slow moving items.
  • Make procurement negotiated benefits work in practice by ensuring favourable terms (such as rebates, payment terms, lead times, and MOQs) are accurately reflected in ERP master data, and commercial value is optimised through to execution.
  • Lead the monthly Supply Review within the UK S&OP cycle, balancing demand against available supply and capacity, and recommending practical actions to close gaps over the medium term.
  • Deputise for the S&OP Lead when required, leading demand reviews, executive S&OP forums, S&OE and related decision-making discussions.
  • Actively manage supply risks and delays, monitoring potential issues such as supplier shortages or port delays, and adjusting stock coverage where needed to protect customer orders without locking in unnecessary inventory.
  • What you'll need

  • This is a senior, individual contributor role; there are no direct reports, but you will lead key supply planning processes and influence cross-functional decisions.
  • Demonstrated experience in supply planning, with a strong understanding of balancing supply and demand across multiple product families.
  • Clear, confident communicator, able to link procurement decisions with operational and fulfilment realities. You understand supplier obligations (lead times, MOQs, capacity, terms) and can explain their impact across teams.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with advanced capability in Excel or Google Sheets to model and financialise scenarios, risks, and trade-offs.
  • Proactive and pragmatic mindset, spotting supply risks early, prioritising what matters most to the business, and driving solutions through ambiguity.
  • Comfortable working with senior stakeholders, including presenting supply risks, options, and recommendations in demand and executive review forums.
  • Willing to travel across UK sites, building strong working relationships with Procurement, Fulfillment, Planning, and Operations teams on the ground.
