About the company:

Charm Industrial is working to return the atmosphere to 280 ppm CO₂. We design, build and operate a fleet of mobile fast pyrolyzers that convert ag and forest biomass residues into bio-oil for use in carbon removal and direct-reduced-iron steelmaking.

In 2020 our Chief Scientist and co-founder Shaun Meehan had two breakthroughs (bio-oil intermediate and bio-oil sequestration) that kickstarted the company. Within 10 months we completed our first carbon removal injection and in 2021 we completed more than 5,000 tons of CO₂e removal for customers like Stripe, Shopify and Microsoft.

About Charm

Our mission is to return the atmosphere to 280 ppm CO₂. We convert excess inedible biomass into carbon-rich bio-oil and inject it into underground storage for permanent carbon removal. At scale we can use bio-oil to make fossil-free iron.

Our carbon removal pathway took off in 2020 with initial purchases from customers like Stripe, Shopify & Microsoft. Since then we’ve scaled to thousands of tons of carbon removal, over a hundred employees, and now have three locations in San Francisco, Colorado, and Kansas. About the Role

We are seeking an eager Staff Accountant to execute on general accounting operations and verifying our financial transactions. The Staff Accountant is responsible for reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining the general ledger through standard journal entries, processing AP and AR transactions, and performing month-end close procedures

This role reports to the Controller and will be expected to work collaboratively with all departments throughout Charm.

Your Responsibilities:

Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

Contribute to monthly close process including journal entries, variances, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.

Process payable and receivable invoices ensuring proper coding and review assignments.

Perform general ledger account reconciliations and ensure accounts are properly maintained in accordance with GAAP standards.

Assist with annual external audits by gathering requested documents and answering auditor questions.

Support the operations with monthly cost center reviews.

Assist with the completion of local tax, and state and local governmental reporting.

Support budgeting and forecasting activities through data analysis and report development.

You Bring:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CPA eligible preferred, but not required.

Passion for high-growth, frequently changing environments

Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Advanced Excel spreadsheet skills

Ability to exercise sound judgment and take initiative to resolve issues.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
