Position: Software Solutions Architect 

Location: Remote (US) 

As a Software Solutions Architect, you will be the designer and technical lead for a software development team, designing and helping to implement the components of applications that power Pivot Bio’s product development pipeline.  This position will be a member of the Data Services group within the Scientific Computing team. The Data Services group is responsible for creating software systems which store, process, and make experimental data accessible to the research community at Pivot Bio. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work across several research groups providing solutions spanning genomics, bioinformatics, laboratory, greenhouse, field trials, drone and satellite imagery.

Responsibilities: 

  • Design the high-level components and interactions of applications in the product development pipeline, which satisfy the application requirements, are maintainable and extensible, and are complex but not complicated 
  • Guide and support a development team in implementing your designs 
  • Author architectural diagrams and documentation for the solutions you have created 
  • Lead code reviews with team members 
  • Create a culture of continuous improvement in all aspects – applications, tools, patterns, and practices

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • 4+ years of development experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field 
  • Experience working within an enterprise data ecosystem including Master Data Management, Data Lake, and Data Warehouse 
  • AWS – EC2, S3, IAM, SNS, SQS, VPC, ECS/EKS, Lambda 
  • Python, Django, Flask 
  • Javascript/HTML, with experience in a framework like Vue, React, or Angular 
  • Docker, Linux, Bash 
  • Ruby on Rails a plus 
  • Learn new technologies quickly 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Well-organized and strong attention to detail 
  • Background in science or research a plus 
  • Contribution to open-source projects a plus 
  • Experience in Azure or GCP a plus
