Position: Project Manager, Data 

Location: Remote OK. Pivot has offices in Berkeley, Hayward, Ames & St. Louis 

Pivot Bio’s field trial program helps it characterize its microbes, supporting the key missions of developing new products, and researching how Pivot’s products can be managed to help Pivot’s customers. Dozens of Pivot Bio employees in its agronomy, field trial management, data science, and research teams work together to design, execute, and analyze these trials. The Project Manager, Data will work with these teams to ensure that Pivot Bio accomplishes its infrastructure goals and that our deliverable plan is aligned with our strategic priorities.  

Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed project plans and coordinate all implementation processes including resource allocation, progress tracking, monitoring change control process, testing, documentation, training and on-time delivery within budget constraints  
  • Will manage a combination of 3 to 5 projects across several platforms at any given time 
  • Coordinate and ensure deliverables between IT team, internal clients, and third parties  
  • Following up with stakeholders on tasks completion and for key information  
  • Act as scrum master, demonstrating agile software management practices both to team and internal stakeholders 
  • Provides a robust/repeatable framework to run projects, bringing in external tools where needed 
  • Track velocity and create timelines based on estimates 
  • Communicate strategic justification for the project to team and executives and describe resources needed for effective project execution 
  • Coordinate contract negotiations between vendor, IT and legal 
  • Partner with Requirements Analyst, R&D & other key business stakeholder teams for requirements gathering as needed 

Requirements:

  • 4+ years’ experience in agile software project management. Technical background in science, software development, or data management preferred (2+ years) 
  • Demonstrated organizational, planning, and analytical skills, including project scheduling, estimating, risk identification, and change management 
  • Excellent communicator with strong attention to detail 
  • Knowledge of project management tools [Asana, Jira, MSProject, etc.]

Hiring Compensation Range: $85,600 - $107,000

All remote positions and those not located in our Berkeley, Hayward or Boston locations are paid based on National Benchmark data.  Following employment, growth beyond the hiring range is possible based on performance.
