Job Description
Fluence is defined by its unwavering commitment to safety, quality, and integrity. This key site leadership role requires a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of electrical infrastructure construction projects. As the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) at site for Fluence, the BESS Technical Field Advisor (Site Engineer) is responsible for advising on and supporting the day-to-day operations of the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) construction, installation and commissioning activities. Working closely with the Design and Construct (D&C) partner, the project team, multiple stakeholders, and the customer and its agents, the Technical Field Advisor (TFA) will ensure that the BESS installation is constructed and commissioned to the Clients’ requirements safely, efficiently and effectively.
Responsibilities
· Advise on and support the day-to-day operations of the BESS construction, installation and commissioning including monitoring safety performance and schedule of both the D&C Partner and Fluence staff.
· Monitor and ensure that all HSEQ policies, plans and procedures are followed on the BESS installation site.
· Maintain accurate and immediate records of any disruptions due to weather, latent conditions or any other compensable event.
· Establish and maintain a collegiate, collaborative and productive working relations with the D&C partner and the Client and its agents to ensure open and constructive communication and address issues and concerns in a timely manner.
· Maintain accurate records of all activities, meetings and instructions related to the BESS installation, including maintenance schedules, service activities and parts replacement.
· Collaborate with project managers, the D&C partner and other stakeholders to develop, implement and maintain project plans, budgets, and timelines.
· Handle and respond to Technical Queries (TQ’s), Requests for Information (RFI’s) from the project, construction and commissioning teams.
· Identify and manage risks and issues associated with the BESS project and work with the team to develop and implement mitigation plans.
· Ensure the BESS installation meets the technical and functional requirements of the customer, and that performance targets are achieved.
· Provide regular updates on the status and performance of the BESS installation.
Experience & Qualifications
· Engineering degree or trade in an Electrical Construction related field.
· Previous experience in construction management or site engineering role.
· Expert knowledge of construction methods, materials, and techniques.
· Deep understand of the Australian electricity sector and NEM.
· Strong understanding of electrical energy technologies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
· Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office suite.
· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
· Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
· Commitment to upholding high standards of quality, safety, and professionalism.
· Experience in managing sites with a strong Unionise workforce.
Travel
The role is site based and may require domestic travel.
Compensation
Compensation for the successful candidate will be competitive and commensurate with experience. Components include a base salary and an incentive bonus.
