Job Description

ChargePoint's Hardware Test Engineering team is seeking a Senior Test Development Engineer to support the development of state-of-the-art automated production test systems. The ideal candidate enjoys self-directed problem solving, as well as having experience in electrical, mechanical, and test software to be able to take ownership of new development projects from start to finish.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and develop fully integrated test systems using Linux in a scalable production environment

  • Collaborate cross-functionally on test requirements through the entire product development lifecycle

  • Automate Test Sequences in Python leveraging internal frameworks

  • Debug and optimize automation to reduce cycle time, improve yield and uptime

  • Participate in product design reviews, code reviews, and test coverage reviews

  • Analyze parametric and functional test results from manufacturing facilities

  • Drive towards better-integrated test solutions and code reuse

  • Travel internationally to manufacturing facilities to support NPI and test HW updates (5%)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering (or advanced degree) with a minimum of 3 years of experience required

  • Proficient with process integration of electromechanical systems

  • Ability to the end-to-end design of PCBA, sub-assembly, and system-level test systems

  • Experience in Python, and other programming languages, and familiar with UNIX

  • Experience with statistical analysis tools and modern database interfaces

  • Familiar with communication protocols such as CAN, UART, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, etc.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience transitioning products from prototype to production in volume manufacturing

  • Strong fundamentals in Python and/or other programming languages

  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to make critical system-level design decisions and drive projects from start to finish with minimal supervision

  • Hands-on experience building and/or troubleshooting test fixtures/setups for mechanical and electronic products

  • Experienced with industrial PLC automation design, PCBA schematic capture and layout is a plus

The targeted US salary range for roles at this operating level is $70,000 to $154,000. This range represents base salary and does not reflect equity, benefits or variable pay where applicable. Actual base salaries are based on several factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, experience, certifications and specific work location.
