This position reports to the Director, Portfolio Finance Management and is responsible for managing and tracking all commercial aspects of a portfolio of large projects. This includes driving accounting compliance, ensuring adherence to commercial contract terms, executing financial and operational internal controls, driving and managing customer contract changes and supplier claims and maintaining operational excellence. The position requires interfacing with many internal stakeholders as well as with customers, suppliers, and outside contractors. This role requires a background in accounting & finance, including contract administration, and working with infrastructure and construction projects.

As a Senior Project Controller, you will:
Be financially responsible for a portfolio of the largest and most complex projects within the Americas regionWork closely with project managers to provide timely transparency around project performance against budget and maintain monthly Estimates at Completion for Revenue, Cost, and Margin.Ensure adherence to applicable accounting guidelinesEnsure adherence to commercial terms and conditions and highlight associated risksEnsure accurate project forecasts, incorporating known risks and opportunitiesExecute internal controls related to Order-to-Cash and act as a peer reviewer to ensure control complianceDrive to improve project performance through change orders and supplier claimsReview, verify and process project related transactions (purchase requisitions, invoices, etc.)Track, evaluate and work to mitigate contract penalties such as performance guarantees and liquidated damages for delaysOrganize project reviews throughout the life of each contractReport Non-conformance costs and help to identify Solution GroupsManage construction subcontractors and other suppliers to maintain project delivery timeline and qualityUnderstand and manage sales, property, and personal tax requirementsAct as a mentor to new or junior level Portfolio Finance ManagersWork to continuously improve project onboarding and execution processesWhat will you bring to Fluence?
8-10 years of financially managing large projects, preferably in the energy sector, including scopes of engineering, procurement and construction and equipment supply and services agreementsAdvanced understanding of project accounting methods, including POC revenue recognitionAdvanced knowledge of project related activities and the project lifecycleAdvanced understanding of commercial contract terms and conditionsAdvanced understanding of project risk management requirements in the areas of insurance, securities, guarantees, liquidated damages, etc.Experienced in negotiating directly with customers and suppliersExperienced in the use of NetSuite, SAP, Unifier Primavera or similar systemsStrong background in using MS Office software: Excel, Word, and PowerPointBachelor’s degree with a major in accounting or financeMBA or CPA a plus
