ICON is looking for a Senior Product Test Technician - Controls  to support the design, development, and implementation of Product Test infrastructure and operations. You will be responsible for selecting, acquiring and implementing test infrastructure such as instrumentation, data acquisition systems, data analysis systems, and troubleshooting/building test hardware. This role is based at ICON’s Austin, TX location and will report to the Sr. Manager - Product Test. Additionally, travel to ICON’s job sites to support troubleshooting and repair may be required. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the development and implementation of ICON’s test infrastructure including test stands, data acquisition systems and chassis, and harnessing. 
  • Operate and troubleshoot ICON’s test infrastructure
  • Support system improvement strategies by developing specifications and requirements to improve ICON’s technical operations and test systems. 
  • Fabricate and integrate test articles and equipment including sensors, instruments, cables/harnessing, relays, PLCs, circuit breakers, as well as other electrical and controls system equipment. Fabricate test boxes, breadboard/test assemblies, breakout boxes, etc. 
  • Work closely with engineering teams to develop upgrade and system level improvement plans. 
  • Produce test reports, develop build documentation, and organize and deliver team metrics. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 8+ years experience in a related electrical engineering, product, or technician roles. 
  • Experience with the following electrical systems: Programmable Logic Controllers, electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, digital instrumentation, including 4-20mA output sensors and data acquisition hardware. 
  • Experience with fabrication of electrical harnessing and wiring systems, including pin/depin, harnessing layouts and securements, end to end testing and HiPot validation testing. 
  • Experience operating electrical equipment such as multimeters, power supplies, hardware in the loop systems, and signal generators. 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates Degree in electronics technology, electrical systems, or controls desired. 
  • Experience with Beckhoff Twincat PLC systems
  • Prior experience in aerospace, military/defense, aircrafts, construction, or other motor and instrumentation based systems is a plus. 
  • A&P license or electrical technician certification is a plus.
