Your role

To help leading industrial companies master product-level sustainability and compliance, we are looking for a (Senior) Product Sustainability Specialist (f/m/x).

As a Product Sustainability Specialist, you own the methodological ground truth for product sustainability at Tanso - PPWR, the Digital Product Passport (ESPR), EPDs, LCA, and PCF. You set the standard for what audit-ready looks like, act as a trusted advisor to industrial customers, and make your expertise scalable through content, data, enablement, and product. You work on our specialist track: your impact grows through the depth and reach of your expertise, knowledge assets, and a scalable product.

Key responsibilities

  • Own the methodology: Be the internal reference for product sustainability and compliance - PPWR obligations, DPP/ESPR requirements, EPD program rules (incl. PCRs), LCA standards, and PCF methodology. Resolve methodological edge cases, set the quality bar, and anticipate regulatory developments (ESPR delegated acts, EmpCo, PPWR secondary legislation) before they reach our customers.
  • Guide customers through complexity: Act as senior methodological sparring partner in high-stakes product compliance cases, including audits, escalations, and executive-level discussions. Design scalable enablement formats, deep dives, academies, office hours, handbook content, that make customers independent.
  • Turn expertise into product: Identify repeatable solutions from customer challenges and translate regulatory and methodological logic into product inputs: in-app guidance, automation rules, data models, and AI context. Drive discovery and beta testing of new product sustainability capabilities with our Product team.
  • Scale knowledge internally: Build and maintain an AI-first knowledge base, templates, and quality standards for your focus area. Act as the knowledge authority for Customer Success, Sales, and Product, support pre-sales with qualification and example datasets, and ensure methodological consistency across everything we deliver.
  • Represent Tanso externally: Build Tanso's credibility as a specialist voice on PPWR, DPP, and product compliance through talks, webinars, publications, and participation in industry working groups.

Your profile

  • Deep, proven expertise in product-level sustainability: LCA, EPDs, PCF, and product compliance regulation (PPWR, ESPR/DPP; ideally also REACH, RoHS, EPR, WEEE, SCIP or similar).
  • Strong command of the relevant standards: ISO 14040/44, EN 15804, ISO 14067, GHG Protocol Product Standard, PACT.
  • Several (4+) years of experience in LCA and sustainability consulting, sustainability software, EPD program work, or industrial product compliance.
  • Experience translating regulation and methodology into scalable formats — content, data models, or software logic.
  • An AI-first working approach and strong curiosity for continuous learning.
  • Based in or willing to relocate to Munich.
  • Fluency in German and English. (CEFR C1)

What we offer

  • A highly competitive compensation package with an attractive equity package to participate in Tanso's growth.
  • Hybrid working model that combines the benefits of onsite collaboration with the flexibility needed.
  • A company-contributed pension plan to support long-term financial security.
  • Yearly budget to support ongoing professional development.
  • Sponsored access to EGYM Wellpass to prioritize your wellbeing with thousands of options.
  • Exclusive discounts that help you save on a wide range of everyday brands, services, and experiences.

Our team

We're a diverse group of people, and that diversity is what makes us great. We bring unique perspectives to everything we do and are always eager to learn from each other. We work in cross-functional teams to tackle ambitious challenges, actively seek feedback and be the best versions of ourselves.
