What You Will Be Doing

ChargePoint is looking for a Senior Factory Quality Engineer to ensure quality of our custom product shipping to end customer. This engineer will be working closely with our contract manufacturing (CM) independently involved in Factory End-To-End Product Quality Control process and management system set up and development. The job scope will be from the initial product design phase throughout the sustaining mass production. He or she will work closely with our Product design, Manufacturing Engineering, Supplier Quality, Testing, and Reliability Engineering teams, and our Suppliers and Contract Manufacturers. To be successful at ChargePoint this person must be highly motivated, self-directed, and comfortable working in a loosely structured and fast-paced environment. 

 

What You Will Bring to ChargePoint

  • Factory PQE Responsibilities: 

    • Independently leads CM (Contract Manufacturer) End-To-End Quality Control setup, from incoming quality control, FATP (Factory Assembly, Test and Packout) in-process quality control (mechanical & functional), Outgoing Quality Control (OQC), Out-Of-Box-Audit (OBA), NPI Reliability and On-Going Reliability Test (ORT) diligently working with Reliability Engineering 
    • First Point-Of-Contact (POC) for Factory quality related issues Escalation leads the Risk Assessment with Cross functional teams as the Core Team Leader 
    • Lead the Crisis Management within CM related to factory/field customer escalation 
    • Proactively lead and prevent poor Product Quality escaping to the customer hands 
    • Manage and address factory quality issue escalation, Failure Analysis (FA), Root cause and Corrective Action (FA/RCCA) from First Article Inspection (FAI), Outgoing Quality Control (OQC), NPI Reliability and Sustaining Ongoing Reliability Testing (ORT), Yield Fallouts and Field Failures, from New Product Introduction Development (NPI) throughout Mass Production ramping till the End of Product Life (EOL) with technical expertise and problem-solving skill sets. 
    • Ensure product quality levels are maintained well meeting the product design specification or improved through the various change management activities during the product lifecycle. 
    • Lead cross-functional teams to develop, qualify and implement the measurement/ inspection/test system to ensure compliance to design cosmetic and functional specifications. 
    • Perform overall factory quality and process audits of new and current suppliers. 
    • Participate in advance quality related activities such as: DFM (Design-For-Manufacturing), DFT (Design-For-Test), DFR (Design-For-Reliability), Supplier Selection, establishing quality control criteria and goals, DFMEA/PFMEA (Design and Process Failure Mode Effective Analysis), and defining validation and reliability test requirements. 
    • Work with CM on the various Quality control station yield data collection, failure analysis, and present the data and report to the cross functional team meetings and executive management 
    • Work with CM and ChargePoint Cross Functional teams to define/implement In-process and Out-going quality control processes, define and implement IQC (Incoming Quality Control) processes with SDQE (Supplier Development and Quality Engineering) at CM for materials received 
    • Work with CM and ChargePoint Mechanical, Electrical Design, Test engineer and Reliability Engineer on root cause analysis of factory and field failures resulting from any quality issues 

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in product quality development and/or manufacturing engineering within mobile or consumer electronics or equivalent products. 
  • Experience in consumer electronics/electromechanical product assembly and inspection/test process development or similar product development process 
  • Experience in Product Quality Control System, Six Sigma, JMP (Jump Software), Mechanical Tolerance Stack Up analysis, and Cosmetic criteria/inspections. 
  • Strong FA/RCCA, Failure Analysis, Root causing, and Corrective Action (CA) understanding and knowledge to lead by example 
  • Experience in Mechanical and Electrical, in Desig- For-Quality (DFQ), Design-For-Excellence (DFX), Design-For-Manufacturability (DFM), Design-For-Test (DFT), and Design-For-Reliability (DFR). 
  • Experience in Surface-Mount Technology (SMT), printed circuit board assembly and system assembly, or sub-assembly manufacturing processes with fixture design and implementation. 
  • Experience with mechanical metrology and gauge measurement using CMM, OMM, instrument, gauges, fixture, equipment, etc., for Cp/Cpk (Process Capability Studies & Analysis), FAI (First Article Inspection) and Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility (GRR). 
  • Bachelor's degree (master's degree a plus) in Industrial, Mechanical, Product, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience 
  • Fluent English communication and writing skill. Able to present to executive management in a larger audience meeting 
  • Strong Technical Leadership lead and drive proactive preventative actions functional failure and mechanical defect escape from factory into customer hands 
  • Excellent teamworking with strong cross functional team collaboration and negotiation skills 

 

Location

Remote – Working areas can be in Taiwan or Thailand where ChargePoint Contract Manufacturing Contractors are.
