About this role:
This is a hybrid role (3 days a week onsite) in either Pasadena, CA, Long Beach, CA or Houston, TX
The Process and Power Systems team is focused on the design and development of the next generation of our Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) plants. In this role, you will work closely with several team members in engineering, manufacturing, and outside consultants. This is a key role within the team that will support design development of facility layouts, piping & equipment 3D models to challenge status-quo, develop innovative and cost-effective designs that work seamlessly within the larger framework of the current and future plants, and enable harnessing solar energy efficiently.
In this role, you will:
- Work collaboratively in cross-functional teams to deliver next-gen plant designs for Heliogen
- 3D modeling of piping and equipment in a 3D model environment.
- Preparation of drawings/documents for general arrangements and piping isometric drawings.
- Assist with coordination of 3D model activities
- Assist with plans and schedules and prepare/maintain design procedures and standards to prepare quality design documents.
- Interface with stress and pipe support engineers, construction contractors, and suppliers during the preparation of piping designs for model and space control.
- Travel (10%) for on-site construction supervision and support.
What's essential:
- AA/AS/Cert with 10 years of related design experience; or in lieu of degree, 15 years related design experience.
- Hands-on experience using a 3D piping design platform.
- Hands-on experience using a 3D isometric extraction program.
- Advanced knowledge of piping codes such as ASME B31.3 or B31.1.
- Strong communication and collaboration experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desirable:
- Experience with large industrial, infrastructure, or energy projects
- Navisworks Manage, SmartPlant S3D experience
- Track record of driving projects to successful completion.
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment integrating the latest information as it becomes available and creatively resolving any emerging problems or deficiencies
