Your role and your team:
As a member of the Industrial Engineering team, you will be pivotal in establishing and optimizing our new manufacturing facilities. With your expertise in industrial engineering and proven track record in setting up greenfield and brownfield production environments, you will design efficient manufacturing systems, streamline workflows, and drive continuous improvement. Reporting directly to the Head of Industrial Engineering, you will play a crucial role in analyzing production requirements, designing layouts, and implementing best practices for equipment utilization and resource allocation. Your technical leadership will guide and mentor other engineers, fostering collaboration and innovation. Your contributions will directly impact the successful launch and optimization of our new factories, positioning Lilium for sustained growth and success.
Your day to day:
- Design and plan layouts of new production facilities, considering workflow optimization, growth requirements, equipment placement, and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architects, engineers, and contractors, to ensure smooth execution of facility setup and expansion projects.
- Conduct feasibility studies and analyze data using simulation results to evaluate different production scenarios and make informed decisions.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to colleagues, sharing expertise in production systems, simulation tools, and best practices.
- Establish standards and processes such as workstation and facility design guidelines and standard work and standard time guidelines.
- Utilize simulation tools to model and optimize aircraft manufacturing processes, identifying opportunities for efficiency gains and cost savings.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate production performance, making data-driven recommendations for process improvements and optimization.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in industrial engineering methodologies, and emerging technologies relevant to aircraft manufacturing to drive innovation and enhance production capabilities.
Your profile:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in industrial engineering, ideally in aerospace or automotive industry, including exposure to greenfield and brownfield production setups.
- Strong technical expertise in manufacturing systems, processes, and equipment, with a focus on continuous improvement and efficiency enhancement.
- Proven experience in providing technical mentorship and guidance to other engineers, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of industry standards, safety regulations, and quality management systems.
- Knowledgeable in manufacturing facility infrastructure
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data, perform root cause analysis, and propose effective solutions.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to plan, organize, and execute multiple projects simultaneously within specified timelines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and equipment vendors.
- Passion for innovation and staying updated with the latest trends, technologies, and advancements in the aircraft manufacturing industry.
- Fluent in English.
Additional, advantageous skills and qualifications:
- REFA/MTM certification, Lean Six Sigma certification.
- Experience using simulation tools, such as Siemens Tecnomatix, AnyLogic or FlexSim, for process modelling, optimization, and workflow analysis.
- German language skills
