Charm Industrial is working to return the atmosphere to 280 ppm CO₂. We design, build and operate a fleet of mobile fast pyrolyzers that convert ag and forest biomass residues into bio-oil for use in carbon removal and direct-reduced-iron steelmaking.
In 2020 our Chief Scientist and co-founder Shaun Meehan had two breakthroughs (bio-oil intermediate and bio-oil sequestration) that kickstarted the company. Within 10 months we completed our first carbon removal injection and in 2021 we completed more than 5,000 tons of CO₂e removal for customers like Stripe, Shopify and Microsoft.
If wiring up high-voltage systems, debugging field panels with precision, and helping new tech come alive alongside a crew of inventive misfits sounds like your idea of a good time—this might be your moment! Charm Industrial is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to support our carbon removal operations by designing, wiring, testing, and troubleshooting the electrical and control systems that power our next-gen pyrolysis tech in Colorado!
What’s In It For You:
• Competitive Pay: $110,000–$138,000/year depending on experience, education, and general wiring wizardry.
• Fully paid health coverage: We cover 100% of your medical premiums because staying healthy shouldn’t come at a cost.
• Stock options: You're not just clocking in—you’re investing in the future of carbon removal.
• 401(k) with matching: We match 50% of contributions up to 6%—save for the future while you help save the planet (after 1 year of service with no additional vesting periods after that).
• Paid time off & parental leave: Recharge with time off and take care of what matters most.
• Annual professional development stipend: We pay you to keep learning, because curiosity is part of the job.
• On-site perks: Healthy snacks and subsidized lunches—because solving climate change works up an appetite.
• Big mission, real impact: Be part of a company literally burying carbon underground—on purpose, and at scale.
How You Stand Out:
Experience & Background:
• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely-related field.
• Solid experience designing and wiring high-power systems (480V and below).
• Proficiency with motor controllers, VFDs, and industrial sensors (thermocouples, strain gauges, flowmeters—you know the drill).
• Hands-on familiarity with PLCs (ladder logic or structured text), cabinet building, and system integration.
• Comfortable working on or near high-horsepower equipment, high-voltage circuits, and fast-moving production timelines.
Skills & Traits:
• Strong troubleshooting instincts—you’re the first one to ask “what changed?” when something stops working.
• Able to translate electrical designs into real-world solutions, fast.
• Eager to collaborate across mechanical, automation, and operations teams.
• Comfortable getting your hands dirty—and just as comfortable documenting what you did for future builds.
• Steady under pressure, especially when production depends on it.
Your Role in Action:
Design & Implementation Expert:
Wire up control cabinets, construct cables, and develop AC power circuits for our pyrolysis and biomass systems. Select and integrate sensors, VFDs, and motor controllers with an eye toward reliability, safety, and scalability.
Production Troubleshooting Partner:
Be the first line of defense when things go wrong. Partner with operations to diagnose electrical and sensor issues during production. Run root cause analyses, implement fixes, and keep the pyrolysis systems online.
R&D Wiring Collaborator:
Work closely with our mechanical and automation teams to implement electrical upgrades and sensor packages for new prototypes. Test new equipment, share lessons learned, and bring scalable designs to life for future builds.
On-Call, On-It Contributor:
Pitch in during scheduled support windows to resolve live issues. When production needs electrical eyes on a problem, you're there—ready to help and quick to act.
Why Charm:
At Charm Industrial, we’re not just talking about reducing wildfires, improving agricultural soil, health and fighting climate change—we’re actually doing it. Our technology converts excess biomass into carbon-rich bio-oil and injects it underground for permanent carbon removal. It’s bold. It’s scalable. And it’s working.
We’ve already removed thousands of tons of CO₂, and we’re just getting started! Our customers include names like Microsoft, Shopify, and Stripe, and our team includes creative, gritty people who thrive on innovation, ownership, and mission. We take our mission seriously, but not ourselves—expect weird biomass moments, silly machine names, and a lot of joy in doing hard things together.
This isn’t your average engineering desk job. It’s climate action, wired up and ready to run. If you're itching to build what's next, we'd love to meet you!
