To accomplish this mission, Rondo is deploying low-cost, zero-carbon Rondo Heat Batteries to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy and to significantly decarbonize industrial processes that are commonly thought of as "difficult-to-decarbonize". Our Heat Batteries charge from intermittent renewables to provide high temperature, continuous heat for customers safely, reliably, at an unprecedented 98% efficiency - and at a cost point that is lower than any other method.

As a Boiler Design Engineer at Rondo, you will play a pivotal role in the development and improvement of our boiler systems for various applications of the Rondo Heat Battery. You will work collaboratively with a team of engineers and designers to create innovative and efficient boiler designs that meet client specifications and industry standards. Your work will involve conducting engineering analysis, designing components, and ensuring the reliability and safety of our boiler systems along with internal and external partners.

What You Will Do (key responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to):

• Lead and contribute to the design and development of industrial boiler systems
• Perform structural, thermal, and fluid flow analysis using software tools to validate design concepts, optimize performance, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
• Select or validate appropriate materials and components, considering factors such as strength, durability, and cost-effectiveness, while adhering to industry codes and standards
• Stay current with industry codes and standards, ensuring that boiler designs and systems adhere to all applicable regulations and certifications
• Work closely with the project delivery team to provide cost estimates and support cost-effective design solutions
• Identify opportunities for innovation and efficiency improvements in boiler design and manufacturing processes
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, such as controls and electrical engineers, to integrate boiler systems seamlessly into larger industrial processes

What You Will Bring:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field - or equivalent work experience - with at least 5 years’ experience in boiler design
• Proven experience in boiler design, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting
• Proficiency in CAD software for engineering design (e.g. SolidWorks)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME)
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to safety and quality
• Knowledge of thermal analysis software (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL)
