Position: Seed Treatment Scientist Lead, Product Success Center, St Louis, MO

We are seeking a Research Scientist to join the Pivot Bio Product Development team in its mission to replace synthetic nitrogen fertilizers with seed-applied nitrogen-fixing microbes resulting in improved crop/nitrogen management that is both convenient and profitable to growers.   

As a critical member of the Pivot Bio Product Development team, you will be part of a team that develops innovative and sustainable solutions to crop management challenges.

  Responsibilities: 

  • Work in partnership with research and commercial teams to research, develop and deliver pre-commercial and commercial products.
  • Work closely with the St Louis based Product Development Success Center staff resulting in an effective team that works well together with an emphasis on safety and product development.
  • Lead development of programs and protocols that are innovative and supportive of Pivot Bio’s product development mission and goals.
  • Provide leadership and guidance in the development of seed-applied technologies.
  • Travel up to 25% of the time.

 Qualifications and Experience 

  • MS or Ph.D. degree required, in agronomy, seed science, plant physiology, soil science or related areas of study.
  • Strong background in agronomy or related field, including expertise and experience in the research and development of biological seed-applied technologies.     
  • Excellent research acumen including experimental design, statistical analysis, protocol development, execution and summarization of research protocols.
  • Comfortable working cooperatively across various functional teams, providing input and direction.
  • Skilled at verbal and written communication.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must be able to walk on concrete surfaces for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to drive forklifts, operate both lab and commercial scale seed-treatment equipment.
  • Must be able to repetitively lift to 55 lbs.
