About the role

Muon seeks an RF Electronics Engineer to join our engineering team.  The ideal candidate is a self-motivated versatile and hands-on RF/EE designer with significant previous experience with spacecraft RF electronics, system design and testing.

Responsibilities

  • Build space-based communications and science radio systems
  • Design, develop and test integrated spacecraft RF subsystems
  • Environmental qualification for the space environment
  • Analysis, characterization, and documentation of developed systems
  • Work closely with RF, EE and Software teams to bring designs to reality

Requirements

  • M.S. in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • 3+ years experience as a hardware engineer in a team environment
  • Excellence in design in two or more of these HW areas: EE circuit design (schematic & layout), RF design from VHF to mm-wave, radio system engineering, signal processing, satellite communications, antenna design
  • Familiarity with fundamental EE design (power, digital/analog, microcontrollers)
  • Experienced user of an electronics design suite (e.g. Altium, Cadence/Orcad, KiCAD, etc)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Excited to work in a fast-paced environment with new challenges each week

Nice-to-have Skills

  • Experience with RF simulation tools (e.g. HFSS, ADS, AWR Microwave Office)
  • Knowledge of design for EMI/EMC robustness and control
  • Experience with programming and scripting for test and automation (e.g. python)
  • Embedded software programming experience (e.g. MCU, Arduino, or RasPi platforms)
  • Worked with extreme-environment testing (e.g. thermal, vibration, vacuum, ESD)
  • End-to-end ownership from product concept to production.
  • Antenna knowledge (design and/or test)

At Muon Space salary is only part of our total compensation package. In addition to salary, Muon Space provides equity compensation as well as benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401k retirement plan, life insurance, and an employee development program. We also offer three weeks paid vacation for new employees, along with 12 paid holidays and unlimited sick time, along with paid parental leave to name a few of our benefits. 

The salary range for this role is 95K-190K and will depend on a candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience as defined during the interview process.

ITAR/EAR Requirements:

This position requires access to export controlled information. To conform to U.S. Government export regulations applicable to that information, applicant must either be (A) a U.S. person, defined as a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, (B) eligible to access the export controlled information without a required export authorization, or (C) eligible and reasonably likely to obtain the required export authorization from the applicable U.S. government agency. The Company may, for legitimate business reasons, decline to pursue any export licensing process.
