Responsibilities:

This person will work closely with the Prototype Shop Manager and the prototype shop team to deliver Prototype projects on-time with the highest level of quality.

Work with design engineers to determine fabrication procedures for prototype projects
Follow detailed CAD/ engineering drawings and execute tasks at a high level of detail and quality
Weld (MIG/TIG) structures and fixtures according to design drawings to specifications
Weld steel, stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, etc.

Work with Shop Manager and Fabrication Lead to determine build schedule
Build and Maintain work instructions for prototype vehicle assembly and retrofit projects
Build and assemble Prototype vehicles to exact specifications
Fabricate complex parts with a variety of different materials (steel, aluminum, composites, wood, etc.)
Operate brake press, hydraulic shear, iron worker, manual lathe, vertical mill, drill press, bandsaw, tubing bender, tubing roller etc.
Form and shape sheet metal
Maintain overall shop cleanliness and organization
Maintain parts and hardware inventory

Qualifications:

7+ years of fabrication work experience in the automotive industry.
5+ years of show car build experience
5+ years of welding experience: MIG (GMAW) and TIG (GTAW)
Valid driver license with clean record.
Strong automotive mechanical understanding.
Strong technical and mechanical ability.
Strong welding and metal fabrication skills.
Strong communication, multitasking, & interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a team environment and willing to help others
Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and long hours
Computer skills a plus (MS Office, Outlook, etc.)
Must be willing to travel at least 30% of the time
