As part of our ambitious journey of further growth, we are looking to strengthen our C-level team with a Chief Sales Officer (CSO).
In this key leadership role, you build and manage the global sales organisation while driving further expansion. You guide the commercial team through its strategic and commercial-operational transition, from a hardware-focused company to a solutions and services provider.
You directly lead a team of 4 Regional Sales Managers who manage local sales teams with a regional or industry focus, and 1 Sales Operations Manager. You are a member of the Management Team and report directly to the CEO.
Responsibilities
Commercial strategy & regional execution
- You define the overall commercial strategy and ensure its successful implementation and adaptation in local markets.
- You make well-supported decisions (criteria for local presence, regional or country-specific approaches, team composition, etc.), set the direction and make choices, maintain focus and critically evaluate results. This way, you ensure all regions are successful and profitable.
International sales management & commercial expansion
- You drive growth in countries where Smappee is already active, including Belgium, France, the Netherlands, the Nordics, the DACH region, Australia, New Zealand, the US, South-Africa and the APAC region.
- You lead a team of 7 direct reports (4 Regional Sales Managers, 1 Sales Operations Manager and 2 senior sales professionals) and oversee a commercial organisation of 30 people in total.
- You provide guidance and set up clear commercial processes. You also establish a motivating framework with targets and KPIs, and ensure necessary follow-up and adjustments.
- You drive further growth by exploring opportunities to establish business in new regions and countries and build local sales teams as well as international partnerships.
Strategic and operational transition
- You guide the commercial team through the strategic and commercial-operational transition from a hardware-focused company to a solutions and services provider.
- You provide clarity and help the Regional Sales Managers in translating the commercial strategy into the sales of smart charging solutions, focusing on a clear business model and strong value proposition that creates recurring revenues (while respecting established revenues).
Requirements
- You are a strong leader with a proven track record in managing international B2B sales organizations and realising growth, in EV or in a product/ hardware sales environment.
- You are capable of driving the company’s commercial strategy while ensuring successful implementation across various local markets.
- You are skilled at leading and developing high-performing teams, with the ability to inspire and mentor Regional Sales Managers and their respective teams.
- You are adaptable and innovative, with the ability to navigate and lead through complex, fast-changing environments while maintaining a focus on strategic goals.
- You are data-driven and results-oriented, consistently evaluating performance against targets and KPIs, and making necessary adjustments to ensure profitability and growth.
- You are an excellent communicator (in English and preferably Dutch) and collaborator, able to work closely with cross-functional teams and the management team.
- You are based in Belgium with around 20% travel (mainly Europe).
