Role Summary (2 year initial contract in regional NSW, close to Muswellbrook)
Managing WHS components on the Liddell Battery Energy Storage Solution (LBESS) delivery project in Liddell NSW and reporting to directly to the Fluence BESS Project Manager and functionally reporting to Fluence WHS Manager, Australia.

This role will be accountable for ensuring implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of all WHS project management systems and processes within the project, from a Principle Contractor position. Those may be specific to contractual and scope requirements and/or meet the applicable regulatory, client, and Fluence requirements.

This role will develop, implement and monitor project specific management systems, provide timely and accurate subject matter guidance on WHS opportunities and challenges, and work with the Fluence project team and key stakeholders to deliver on project objectives.

This role is required to report on project performance as required within their area of accountability and monitor the performance of balance of plant contractors as applicable.

This role provides WHS leadership and oversight for their area of accountability within defined BESS Project(s) and will coordinate with upstream and downstream Asia Pacific (APAC) Safety and Quality teams, and or, as directed by the business.
 
This position will be based on the project site, and if successful will lead to long-term permanent employment within Fluence.

Essential Responsibilities
- Within the scope of Principle Contractor, this role will develop and implement project WHS management systems, strategies and programs for risk management.
- Support the identification and development of project WHS improvement strategies together with relevant incident prevention methods and techniques.
- Ensure adequate training and development is achieved in safety critical roles within the project.
- Implement monitoring systems and lead, or participate, in organisational review, change management and incident investigation.
- Seek to improve project WHS outcomes through championing continuous improvement strategies and initiatives.
- Develop, implement, and test project WHS plans including, but not limited to: Emergency response management, including emergency response teams, first responder medical teams and liaison with other services including internal and external stakeholders and business continuity.
- In consultation with environmental resources, support environmental requirements in line with environmental regulations, client and Fluence requirements.
Develop and lead a small WHS project team recruiting, appraisal, coaching, training, development, and motivation.
- Additional tasks and support (within reason) as directed by AU WHS Manager, the Fluence Project Manager / Director and or General Manager

Qualifications
·        Tertiary qualification (Advanced Diploma), engineering / project management qualifications
·        +7years in energy or a related, project based industry (ie. construction, civil, rail, mining)
·        Prior leadership experience would be advantageous
·        Proficient in Microsoft Suite and database management
·        Advanced investigative skillset with proven experience in causation investigation models (TapRoot / ICAM / 8D)
·        Advanced communication, report writing, presentation and key stakeholder management skillset
·        Advanced investigative / incident / trend analytical skillset
·        Lead auditor (9001, 45001 / 4801, 14001 management systems)
·        Comprehensive knowledge of WHS and Environment legislations within area of accountability
