About the company:

Nitricity is a startup addressing climate change, and we are looking for your help! We are innovating in an essential chemical industry that supports global food systems. The bedrock of modern agriculture is the production, distribution, and application of the essential nutrients found in fertilizers. However, nitrogen fertilizer is currently made in coal- and gas-fired facilities located hundreds to thousands of miles away from farmers who need it. The $120B industry is responsible for as much as 6% of global CO2eq emissions. Nitricity Inc. has developed a new technology that produces fertilizer using air, water, and renewable electricity (e.g., solar). Growers will have access to a more reliable, low cost, and environmentally friendly fertilizer supply. We are actively growing our team to help us turn this vision into a reality.

Job Overview

The Project Manager will work directly with Nitricity’s President and CTO in a multidisciplinary role that will source, analyze, pursue, secure, and manage new opportunities to scale and support Nitricity's future commercial development. This role will help forge the leading edge of Nitricity’s future developments, focusing on opportunities in project site selection and pre-development, project & grant financing, power procurement, life-cycle assessments, and community engagement to support and accelerate Nitricity’s commercial-scale-up. This role will help Nitricity secure multi-million-dollar funding opportunities, significantly increase the profitability and success of future projects, and enhance the sustainable impact of Nitricity’s products.

This role requires a strategic thinker who can balance financial, operational, and environmental considerations to drive Nitricity's growth and sustainability goals.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with Nitricity’s President and CTO to develop and manage projects for building out new opportunities at Nitricity.
  • Source, analyze, present, and develop new funding opportunities, including grants, loans, and incentives for upcoming Nitricity projects, including fertilizer production, renewable energy projects, R&D, and commercial plants for larger projects.
  • Develop site selection and commercial scale-up opportunities through site acquisition and due diligence for future Nitricity production sites: traveling to sites (US and EU), analyzing sites, building opportunity techno-economic assessment comparison models, securing utility/contractor/city council agreements, and helping to secure available federal, state, and local government incentives for commercial sites and power procurement.
  • Lead and coordinate with 3rd party firms to develop high-quality cradle-to-grave life cycle assessments and soil health analyses for Nitricity’s product versus incumbents and compile and report to Nitricity leadership on Nitricity’s greenhouse gas mitigation goals.
  • Lead community engagement efforts to establish and maintain relationships to support the community and promote the success and favorability of the projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, Energy, Economics, Environment, Science, or related field (multi-disciplinary preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in project management, development, and financing for hard tech, chemical, clean tech, climate tech, renewable energy, or related industries.
  • Experience successfully preparing packages for and securing $M in project finance, incentives, tax credits, bonds, or grants.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modeling and energy optimization
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships with public officials and agencies.
  • Strong teamwork skills, collaborating effectively with colleagues to achieve shared goals and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with state and local communities.
  • Adaptability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, international manufacturing, renewable energy, or agriculture-based incentives, regulations, and opportunities is a plus.
  • This role requires travel ~15% of the time.
  • The position is primarily on-site in Fremont, CA.
