Who You Are
Sila Nanotechnologies is looking for an experienced Project Controls Manager for our Capital Projects team to develop, monitor, and manage capital project estimates, schedules, cost forecasts, and progress reports for our battery material factories and research centers. You are an experienced analyst who will lead the execution of project controls processes, systems, standards, and tools at Sila. You have excellent communication skills and are able to collaborate seamlessly with internal teammates and external contractors to monitor, analyze, and communicate project controls data, forecasts, and recommended changes.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Actively oversee and monitor project controls data and lead reviews to assess project controls performance on capital projects. Produce performance metrics and performance variance analysis. Publish status and summary reports with recommendations, and work with project management to resolve associated issues.
- Work directly with engineering contractors and external parties to coordinate projects; for example, lead Interactive Planning Sessions and the creation of Level 3 project baseline schedules.
- Oversee development and maintenance of consolidated master schedules, including coordination with internal technology development teams and external permitting, commissioning, engineering, and construction contractors. Analyze the critical path schedule for logic discrepancies.
- Monitor periodic schedule and cost updates from contractors using earned value methodology. Communicate areas of concern to project management team and initiate corrective actions.
- Collaborate with project management to review and validate progress and spend curves. Link change management to latest estimate and schedule. Review contingency drawdown curve progression to assess effects on capital project costs. Review impact of risks and trends to project cost and schedule. Prepare project status reports and communicate budget/forecast areas of concern to the project team and Sila’s Finance team.
- Prepare and maintain monthly project cash flow of actuals and forecasts. Work with contractors to determine monthly cash flow projections. Monitor and review invoices.
- Lead the development, deployment, and full implementation of standardized project control processes, methodologies, systems, and tools to improve capital project execution in areas such as, but not limited to: estimating, planning/scheduling, cost control, progress measurement, and reporting.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of industry experience in project controls
- Project controls experience with complex capital projects in a construction or manufacturing industry
- Experience with planning and managing project schedules in Primavera P6 / Primavera Cloud software
- Experience with relational databases, business planning, and forecasting (Sage X3 preferred)
- Proficient in project planning, cost estimating and validating, budget management, risk management, and project closeout
- Proven communication and meeting-management skills, across external and internal teams
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Move long distances and be stationary for extended periods of time
- 10-25% travel to and from build sites and engineering contractor’s offices

Regular Shift: Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 6:00pm
Payscale Disclosure
The starting base pay for this role is between $172,000 and $218,000 at the time of posting. The actual base pay depends on many factors, such as education, experience, and skills. Base pay is only one part of Sila’s competitive Total Rewards package that can include benefits, perks, equity, and bonuses.
