Your role and your team:

This is 12 month fixed-term contract role.

This role will be part of the Program Management Office (PMO) which reports to the VP of Program Management and is responsible for the successful delivery of our aircraft programs.

As the Program Risk Manager, you will be responsible for the overall view of program-related risks.  You will make sure that risks raised by the project teams are clearly understood and documented so we can better predict and mitigate them in the future.  You will guide teams through the risk management process, ensuring a variety of program elements are appropriately considered, such as supply chain, industrial as well as technical, and certification.   You will create risk response plans that are clear and measurable, and oversee their execution.

In this role, you will interface with the Program, Commercial, Finance, Engineering, Aviation Safety, and Operations organizations in Lilium to oversee all program risks and their status. You will use your experience in risk management and coordinating multi-functional teams to:

  • Ensure the team and key stakeholders understand the potential impact of the captured risks and are clear on what actions are required to limit their severity and probability. Manage stakeholder engagement and expectations. Ensure process adherence.  Tell the truth with no sugarcoat and no drama.
  • Identify, implement, maintain, and improve the right processes and tools to effectively record risks related to different organizations.
  • Report to the program management team to ensure the product baseline is properly updated and communicated and the broader implications of any risks are efficiently controlled.

The scope of the Program Risk Manager will evolve as we mature and industrialize our aircraft programs and enlarge our product catalogue.

Your Day to Day:

  • Collaborate with the various IPTs (Integrated Project Teams) to ensure that the risks associated with their areas are properly identified and controlled in line with the aircraft program objectives.
  • Drive program risks throughout the risk management process: from risk identification to risk closure following verification of acceptable risk level.   Ensure strong risk mitigation actions result from risk response planning, monitor the potential impact of risks on the program baseline..
  • Ensure that all validated risk response plans are properly prioritized and owned by the affected areas (engineering, manufacturing, procurement, supply chain, etc.).
  • Report on risk management progress for the entire aircraft program and manage deviations from plan by escalation when necessary.
  • Drive the planning and preparation of Program and Technical risks reviews in line with Program Governance, ensuring all risks and opportunities are properly documented and updated and stakeholders aligned prior to the Risk Reviews.
  • Represent the aircraft program at program risk reviews and ensure that all program considerations are well managed.

About you:

  • Undergraduate or Master's degree in a technical field (e.g. Engineering) or experience in a technical aerospace environment in lieu.
  • Proven Project Management skills with a minimum of 7 years Project Management experience with a strong focus on Risk Management, ideally within a complex aerospace environment. Strong preference to candidates who have participated in at least one aircraft development program, ideally E-VTOL, and are familiar with all phases of the project lifecycle including development, certification and operational phases.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing cross-functional teams and working closely with a broad range of stakeholders at different levels of the organisation.
  • Ability to probe and challenge assumptions.
  • Preferably hold a PM qualification equivalent to IPMA Level C or higher. Chartered Engineer status favourable.
  • Enthusiastic and eager to learn and adopt his/her style to a start-up environment; puts the team first; robust and passionate in following given objectives; uses failure as a learning experience.
