Your Role and your Team

  • As Simulation Data Package Engineer in Lilium, including the role as Compliance Verification Engineer OSD SIMD according Part 21, you will coordinate the availability and time-bound delivery of all components of simulation data packages, quality-control the content and ensure configuration control and documentation as required.
  • You will be in contact with various departments and sources of information and data in Lilium, e.g. with all of the aircraft systems domains, with the Modelling & Simulation team, with Configuration Control and overall program management.
  • In the Simulation Data Package Engineer role, you will set up and own a "data warehouse" / repository for data relevant for flight simulation development, such as simulation models, CAD models, drawings and technical aircraft documents, aircraft manuals, flight test / validation source data, sound data, etc.
  • You ensure that the latest available data is incorporated in planned or on demand data package releases according to user/customer needs as well as industry standards, that the data is checked and quality controlled, that feedback from users /customers gets implemented, and that each release and configuration is properly documented.
  • In the role as CVE for OSD simulation data (OSD SIMD), you will be working closely with the designated certification specialist for this topic, as well as with other specialists in different departments in Lilium, e.g. in Simulation & Modelling, Systems Integration Lab or Flight Test. You will also liaise with aviation authorities (EASA, FAA and others)
  • Your role will make you part of both the flight simulation team (for the data package management) as well as the Office of Airworthiness (for the Compliance Verification Engineer role), while your tasks will strongly connect you to other departments such as Systems Engineering, Configuration Management, Program Management, Flight Test, and others.

Your Day to Day

  • Prepare simulation data packages regarding the Lilium Jet (simulation models, QTG source data, flight/operations manuals, ICDs and other interface documentation, CAD models, 3rd party information) 
  • Ensure completeness and quality of simulation data packages, Check and validate data and documents before including them in a data package release
  • plan and execute simulation data package release plans, setup and become the owner of a flight simulation data package "warehouse" repository
  • setup a configuration control system, incl. quality control, documentation and feedback management
  • Track relevant changes in aircraft configuration, simulation models, aircraft documentation and other sources that may have an impact on the flight simulation data package. To support this, participate in specific meetings such as configuration control boards.
  • Work closely with internal departments such as Aircraft Engineering, Modelling & Simulation, Flight Test, Office of Airworthiness and others
  • Work closely with external partners such as Flight Safety International, collect and implement their feedback, and deliver simulation packages, (software) components and documents to their requirements (e.g. Specifics for integration in their simulation environment, specifics for pilot training purposes)
  • Act in the role as Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) for OSD SIMD as part of the OSD process (Operational Suitability Data) and provide independent compliance verification as certification subject matter expert for OSD SIMD and Validation Source Data for MQTG.
  • Work closely with the Office of Airworthiness, Airworthiness engineers and Certification specialists within Lilium, and with EASA, FAA and other authorities.
  • Provide review and approval as Compliance Verification Engineer for certification program documentation for OSD SIMD including certification plans and reports
  • Assist in the analysis and interpretation of applicable EASA, FAA and global flight simulation requirements and the establishment of means and methods of compliance

Your Profile

  • A team player, able to work in complex environment effectively, with cross-functional teams in a matrix organisation
  • Engineering background (Bachelor or Master degree in aeronautical engineering, software engineering, or other engineering domains)
  • Experience in working with large data sets, in planning and performing software releases, as well as in configuration and revision control
  • Track record of (agile) project management, especially in a software development environment
  • Expertise in flight simulation, especially QTG tests and FSTD qualification
  • Experience in development of simulation models, or previous experience with flight simulation data packages, is a plus
  • Insight in different domains of aviation (aircraft development, piloting, flight test, etc.) is a plus
  • Prepared to work hours to suit certification projects and activities as required
  • Ability to support occasional national and international travel at short notice
  • Fluent English language skills are essential, Fluent German or any other language would be beneficial
