What you will do:
As a Process Technician II on the Process Engineering team, you will contribute to the building of equipment and the testing of chemical processes across a variety of scales, from bench to Electra's iron-refining pilot plant.
In this role you will:
- Operate a variety of chemical process equipment, including pumps, mixers, filtration, heat exchangers, and conveyors
- Collect data from experiments and perform analytical techniques, such as titration, pH measurement, and sample preparation
- Collaborate with engineers to implement new processes and improve existing ones
- Commission and troubleshoot new equipment
- Develop and execute standard operating procedures
- Maintain a safe working environment and lead safety assessments of new equipment and operations
- Analyze results to make decisions and inform design work
- Read, understand, and comply with all workplace health and safety policies, safe work practices, and company policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
What we need you to bring to the team:
- High school diploma of equivalent
- 1-2 years of industry experience in an R&D or chemical production environment (excludes internships, co-ops, and other school projects)
- Experience implementing safety measures for gas- and liquid-based processes
- Hands-on experience operating and/pr modifying chemical process equipment
- Familiarity with fluid power systems (pumps, valves, heat exchange equipment, etc.)
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to communicate findings
What we want you to bring to the team:
- Associate's degree in a science or engineering field
- 3+ years of industry experience in an R&D or chemical production environment (excludes internships, co-ops, and other school projects)
- Experience with power tools and light fabrication to build custom hardware
- Experience with analytical chemistry techniques such as titration, pH measurement, and sample preparation
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand/sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to operate the following equipment and tools: basic hand and power tools such as wrenches, drills, and saws
Compensation:
- The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $26.00 - $32.00 per hour and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education
