What you will do: 

As a Process Technician II on the Process Engineering team, you will contribute to the building of equipment and the testing of chemical processes across a variety of scales, from bench to Electra's iron-refining pilot plant. 

In this role you will:

  • Operate a variety of chemical process equipment, including pumps, mixers, filtration, heat exchangers, and conveyors
  • Collect data from experiments and perform analytical techniques, such as titration, pH measurement, and sample preparation
  • Collaborate with engineers to implement new processes and improve existing ones
  • Commission and troubleshoot new equipment
  • Develop and execute standard operating procedures
  • Maintain a safe working environment and lead safety assessments of new equipment and operations 
  • Analyze results to make decisions and inform design work
  • Read, understand, and comply with all workplace health and safety policies, safe work practices, and company policies and procedures 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor 

What we need you to bring to the team: 

  • High school diploma of equivalent 
  • 1-2 years of industry experience in an R&D or chemical production environment (excludes internships, co-ops, and other school projects)
  • Experience implementing safety measures for gas- and liquid-based processes
  • Hands-on experience operating and/pr modifying chemical process equipment
  • Familiarity with fluid power systems (pumps, valves, heat exchange equipment, etc.)
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to communicate findings 

What we want you to bring to the team: 

  • Associate's degree in a science or engineering field
  • 3+ years of industry experience in an R&D or chemical production environment (excludes internships, co-ops, and other school projects)
  • Experience with power tools and light fabrication to build custom hardware
  • Experience with analytical chemistry techniques such as titration, pH measurement, and sample preparation 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand/sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to operate the following equipment and tools: basic hand and power tools such as wrenches, drills, and saws

Compensation: 

  • The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $26.00 - $32.00 per hour and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education
