Your Role

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Equipment Technician. This role is crucial for maintaining the high reliability and efficiency of our specialized composite processing and manufacturing equipment. You will be responsible for the installation, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all manufacturing systems supporting high-volume production goals while ensuring minimal downtime.

Your Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers and external vendors with the installation, qualification, and start-up of new manufacturing equipment and process lines. 
  • Collaborate with engineers to identify equipment reliability issues, calibrate, modify, and implement continuous improvements to optimize performance, quality, safety, and efficiency. 
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and equipment preventative and maintenance (PM) checklists, and manage the spare parts inventory. 
  • Perform scheduled PM on a wide range of production equipment (hot presses, hydraulic systems, material handling robots, curing ovens, and material preparation machinery) 
  • Promptly address equipment breakdowns and provide effective diagnosis and repair pf mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic malfunctions on manufacturing equipment to minimize production downtime. 
  • Troubleshoot complex issues using technical manuals, schematics, multimeter readings, and advanced diagnostic tools. 
  • Maintain accurate and detailed maintenance, repair, and parts inventory records using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). 
  • Strictly adhere to all safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, confined space entry, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and ensure all equipment and work areas meet required Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) policies. 
  • Your Required Skills and Expertise

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; technical certification or Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical/Mechanical Technology, or a related field is a strong plus. 
  • 3+ years of experience as an Equipment Technician, Maintenance Technician, or similar role within a manufacturing or production environment, preferably involving composite, chemical, or web-handling equipment. 
  • Strong aptitude for diagnosing and repairing mechanical systems (e.g., pumps, motors, gearboxes). 
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot electrical systems up to 480V, read electrical schematics, and understand control circuits. 
  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) operation and basic troubleshooting (e.g., checking inputs/outputs). 
  • Proficiency in general fabrication, welding, and machining. 
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform duties in a manufacturing environment (e.g., bending, kneeling, climbing ladders). 
  • Your Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience maintaining high-temperature presses or ovens used in composite or polymer processing. 
  • Formal training or certification in hydraulics, pneumatics, or industrial electricity. 
  • Experience with a specific Computerized Maintenance Management System (MMS) platform (e.g., eMaint, Fiix, SAP PM). 
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) methodologies.
